What's the actual problem with W10?
Though I prefer 7, it's a HUGE upgrade on 8/8.1 ...
Just turn off the spyware ;-)Hello There. :beer:0 -
Of more concern is KB3139929 - which contains an Ad generator (KB3146449), presumably to bring up constant nags to get us to upgrade to Win 10 !

I've not seen any part of Windows 10 which is a huge upgrade to Windows 8.1, most of the advantages of Windows 10 are already present in Windows 8.1, there's no need to turn off or remove spyware nor any issues with control over system options (such as Windows upgrades) and Windows 10 takes many steps backwards for touch and 2 in 1 devices with the removal of the touch interface and the touch version of internet explorer. Having to explicitly switch between the two interfaces is very clunky compared to just tapping a tile then swiping on the side of the screen as you can do in Windows 8/8.1. As a pure desktop environment I've never had any issues with Windows 8 or 8.1
I dislike the fact Microsoft are using a malware style approach to try and force people onto Windows 10 (nagging pop-ups, no option to opt out, specialist software to block) and Microsoft are taking increasing steps to monetise Windows 10 including recently restricting Cortana search to MS products only. Given Windows 8.1 has most of the advantages of Windows 10, none of the rubbish and an optional, functional touch interface, I've seen anything of Windows 10 which isn't a downgrade. Aside from the marketting side which has successfully convinced people by renaming Windows 8.2 to Windows 10 that it's an awesome operating system and totally different to Windows 8 when it isn't at all.

There will be a small number of whingers but for those that are not technically aware this is probably a good move. Some of them will have read many of the silly comments about W10 and decided not to go ahead with upgrade for fear of their computer selling their children on eBay. However for the vast majority the correct and best solution is to upgrade.
In the last month of being able to get it free it makes sense to be more forceful (to avoid all the whinging about 'why do I have to pay for it now?'.IITYYHTBMAD0 -

I can remember Windows ME (& Vista), upgrading to those didn't work out to be the best solution.
I run Win 7 & it works, has done for the last 6 years or so, why would I want to (be spammed to) upgrade given Microsofts dubious history of releasing less than acceptable operating systems?
If you're happy with Win 10 good luck but I'll stick with what works for me thanks.Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0 -

That's not why MS are doing this.
They're planning to turn Windows into a closed platform, much like Apples iOS.
Paying for updates (security or otherwise) is almost certainly going happen. Perhaps even paying monthly for using Win10.
I can see them restricting what you can install, perhaps even forcing all software to be purchased/downloaded via their own store.
Also Win10 is well known for leaking your personal data, MS will undoubtedly be using this for targeted advertising.
If you want Win10 when it's no longer free, just buy an OEM disk on eBay in a couple of years time. I got a genuine copy of Win7 for £20, it'll be no different for Win10.
The other problem with this free upgrade is that MS have an extremely poor history when it comes to upgrading one OS to another and most IT savvy folk would NEVER do an upgrade like this.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
