Well I went to see the ugly duckling.......I like it, definite swan potential.
Where's that sledgehammer.......:rotfl:
I've got one more to see on Monday then I'll decide but I am leaning towards the Duckling.
London and the lion king tomorrow.
Sorry to hear about your neighbours Smodlet, that's one thing you can't do much about.
Hold tight AC. It's a waiting game.
Trouble is you do need nerves of steel to play the game.0 -
LL, are you actually Kirstie Allsopp or just channelling her?
... and, if you are, indeed, she,
:o:o.
Well done on losing the £2, couple of lottery tickets, was it?
AC, it is the doldrums, property market-wise, maybe it will pick up in a few weeks and think how much nicer your garden could be, by then. Maybe you should attempt to get over your flower-phobia and stick some garage tulips in a pot next time you have a viewing, or something... ideas, LL, guys?0 -
She's chanelling me.....;)
She is young enough to be my daughter. (or I'm old enough to be her mum). I like her. Actually she reminds me of my younger self - a right Little Miss Bossy Boots. :rotfl:
Renovated my first property in 1975. Have been upcycling furniture since I was 16.......Started with my old childhood chest of drawers which was third hand when I got it. It has had several reincarnations. Currently my 16 year old niece has it on more or less permanent loan. She can keep it as long as she likes but when she gets bored I want it back. My sister and I want it to stay in the family.
My renovating and upcycling all started as a matter of necessity because I couldn't afford new stuff. I just got hooked. Now I do it for fun. My ultimate goal is to buy a plot and build my own. My very own "Grand Design" .....
I actually do have some land but so far no planning permission.
Nearly finished doing up my youngest son's wreck - a Rambling Victorian terraced house - it's looking pretty good. So it's a good time for another project.
He liked the Duckling too - in fact we've just been talking about it - planning what we could do with the kitchen.
I agree - the property market does seem quiet just now. The EA couldn't hide the gleam in her eye when she found out I was a cash buyer with nothing to sell.
AC - once you have sold you will be in a very strong position. I'm sure you will be able to make that work in your favour.0 -
Wow, impressed, much... now who's showing her age? I really, really hope you can forgive me but I had wondered if you might be an EA, as you are so knowledgeable; this accounts for it! Clever LL! :T
Tell us more about the wreck?0 -
'We're all going on a summer holiday.....' :j
I've left home and am on my way to Dorset .....! Can't believe it's come round so quickly ... And the weather forecast is looking reasonable for next week.
Only another 90 mins from where I'm staying with my friend, who drives us there tomorrow, no, now THIS morning!
AC, hold on, your buyer is out there somewhere!
Will check on developments when I'm back in 10 days.0 -
What's to forgive......
Yes I was an EA on and off in one form or another for nearly 30 years, with a few career breaks and twists and turns along the way.
Officially I am now retired but still like to keep busy on various projects. I can't see me giving it all up completely. I enjoy it too much.
Of course Nowadays I'm less hands on, the boys do the heavy stuff, and I have a team of reliable tradespeople so I take more of a supervisory/advisory role and act as a gofer and general dogsbody.
However, I can still make a good mug of builders tea and a mean bacon butty......:rotfl:0 -
Tuesday...have a great holiday. Hope the weather is kind.0

Have a great holiday Tuesday
Glad you've found the right place LL;)
Sorry about your neighbours smodlet .
Had a chat with chase Buchanan . Today's viewing was cancelled yesterday ,as it was the wrong location.
Apparently this brexit thing is holding things back.
I was told that if we remain for example, the prices will go up in the next year, and people will be rushing for properties now .
So it sounds good .
We will see .0 -
What's to forgive... well, just my opinion of EAs in general, that's all. You must be the exception to the rule, LL... most of them will be saying "Hi" to Judas when they get where they're going...;)
What you do these days sounds fun. Bossing a load of big, strong blokes around, yep, feelin' it, feelin' it. Think I'm beginning to get the whole "falling in love" with a building idea; I fell in love with our last house but was looking at it as a home (I'd pretty much moved in before we got in the front door to view it) not as a project. I just don't have that kind of eye: I either hate a place or love it but never see all the work that needs doing if I love it and see nothing but if I don't; not objective.
I guess there is something kinda sexy about sizing up a property... and once you get down and dirty with it... "No! Not there, there." Off for a cold shower, now where did I put those meds? :rotfl:0 -
Morning, AC! Things may not be going as fast as you would like them to but it's London! Sooner or later you will sell. Can you see the cricket pitch from your place? If so, you could make a fortune renting out your parking space and your window so people without tickets can watch it, even if they need binoculars.
Bon voyage, Tuesday, travel safely and here's hoping you have a great time! :wave:0
