No news as yet. Just another viewing on Friday afternoon.
Still waiting to hear about the other 3 viewings( yesterday and sat).
Things are looking good for you LL. Won't be long before you've found your perfect pad.;)
Still humid in London .0 -
Things are slowing down . Suppose brexit , may have something to do with it . I don't normally ask for much , this time only want to move0
-
I'm not convinced about this whole housing market and brexit stuff - I don't believe the house prices will crash at all - they may not rise however.0

Morning, all,
Hang in there, AC and Anna, something will come up, it always does.
Given that I am probably quite thick about politics, what does Brexit have to do with house prices, whichever way it goes? It is not as if, imho, the tide of immigration will suddenly stop if we leave; apparently more than half of all immigrants are non-EU anyway... as if this government has the slightest clue how many there are or where they came from!:doh:0 -

I doubt that it's Brexit TBH (although I am happy to keep an open mind).
1. The market does tend to slow a little once you hit June after the Spring Rush. June, July and August ate traditionally quieter months.
2. There was a huge surge to beat the April Increased stamp duty deadline, so there is bound to be a period of adjustment and a slight pause whilst the market realigns.
(Although TBH I cannot see that, in the long term, 3 per cent is going to make much difference, people will just factor the additional costs into their budget).
(Being a landlord is a business. Increased SDLT is just another business expense like any other and can be offset against CGT further down the line).
(Increased SDLT won't kill the Lettings Industry, it's just a nice easy earner to add to tax revenue. Realistically, if a landlord cannot afford a one off payment of 3 per cent then their margins are too tight).
3. THe weather.......yes seriously. We have a had a week of heavy rain here and glowering skies and it sometimes puts viewers off.
Do I think Coming out of the EU will affect house prices, will the sky fall in, will the world stop spinning on its axis.....:rotfl:
To listen to all the daft arguments that are being thrown around by both the Brexits and the Remains then apparently the end of the world is nigh and it's the end of civilisation as we know it.
Ke Sara and all that.:rotfl:0 -
Another rejection ( from Monday's viewing). Again , it's about work that needs to be done. There is an exaggeration here I think .
Regarding the positive viewing:Hampton is a little cheape than twickenham to buy . Twickenham is nearer to everything .
Hopefully , they can see the positives in my flat , and go for it .
Still waiting for the double viewing feedback on Saturday .0 -
Well ive finally got my act together. I have booked two viewings, one for tomorrow evening and one for Monday.
The Monday one sounds the most interesting as long as it's not listed. I think it might be but the EAs office didn't know. So I will need to find out more.
Realistically both are only "possibles". TBH neither of them really sets my pulse racing so I would want substantial reductions in the asking price so I can take a sledgehammer to them........;).
To be fair they have both sat on the market for a while because they are overpriced anyway. They both need the layouts configuring, so not just a straight forward cosmetic job like your flat AC. The Monday one even failed at auction......it's a bit of an ugly duckling but has potential if the price is right.
For me buying a house is a bit like falling in love.........I can get past the ugly duckling bit but I do need the thunderbolt!!! I need the palpitations, sweaty palms and butterflies in the stomach....then I know I've found "the one". :rotfl:
Sorry things are slow for you AC. It's just a waiting game.
You've knocked £25k off your asking price, so unless it was hopelessly overvalued to start with, then I'm sure someone will come along soon.
Right off to B&Q. The paint won't buy itself....... (or as we say up here - this won't get the baby bathed):rotfl:0 -
LL
Good Luck with the viewings and I hope you find one that "feels right!" I know what you mean about a sledgehammer as I have had two bedrooms knocked into one and a wall demolished to make a big kitchen with a breakfast bar as well as two new bathrooms etc.
Three builders have been working on the empty shell that is the kitchen today. The flooring is Arlington oak which I love and am using in the hallway and conservatory as well. Walls are a lovely grey shade and units are an ivory/ bone with toning wooden worktops. The previous owner has bodged so much in the kitchen as well as all over the house that it is a much more difficult job than it should be.
If one house even failed at auction then you should be able to get it at a fair price if they have any sense and I hope you find something where the vibes are right and you will be happy."This site is addictive!"

You do make me
, LL. Just remember to take precautions! :rotfl:
And the site is addictive enough but these little faces are taking me over  I can feel myself regressing with every post; I'm about at Blue Peter level now but will probably reach Play School in a few weeks, at this rate. I need help
P.S. "Ke Sara"? What lingo is this, please? I know of Que sera, and possibly Che sera. 'Tis such an education, this erudite discourse, methinks.
AC, if this doesn't cheer you up, go and watch some more :footie: and try to take your mind off it! And remember, :A0 -
