Hello everyone again.
Update : yesterday looked at two flats on Poole road, in the same block.
Estate agent was lovely, warm and understanding .( what was I taking ?)
Having said that, I didn't realise her surname. It may be her company.
As soon as I walked in I wanted to throw up. It was like ghandis kitchen .
The stench was unbearable . I then managed to walk up the dated stairs on both occasions . The flats inside were very nice and spacious however.
Service charges . Cheap for the moment. The freehold is changing hands so it will be more expensive in time .
This morning I receive text from landlady . She will come over on Thursday with a rug .(?) I will view the property then. I didn't reply to her email, so she is. Pushing things forward. I wasn't rude, but I was going to reply to her email today. I'll politely explain why I didn't when I see heir.
Onto this morning . Nice blonde bimbo was late. It gave me time to have a nosey . Much more spacious than the one bedroom I saw in the building, next door 2 weeks ago. The windows outside are a little grubby, but my brothers are in the building trade , so I'll take pics and ask them their opinion. The colour of the bathroom is not to my liking. Okay if you're 70. Depressing navy blue and white . If the tiles were able to be painted professionally , I'd get that done . It's a ground floor flat.A maissonnette effect , except that we both use the same front door, and the stairs are for the upstairs owner. There is a small communal garden .
The owner wants a quick sale . Estate agent won't disclose why.
It was let out .
I asked if students where there etc. Apparently , lower parkstone doesn't really had any . Service charges £1200 a year. Looking at the ins and outs, I could go up to £185k Maybe more.
On Sunday , I started going through what I have now,and what I could/ should have left .
I may look at a flat in Westbourne tomorrow . I'll decide if I want to shortly.
Yesterday , the estate agent did say that would be a very good area for me.
She has the experience . I'm not too sure if I'm old enough for Westbourne .0 -
Hey, well done on viewings.... look past the current decor etc, however communal stench is a whole other ball game
£1200 service charges sounds like A LOT of money to be forking out a month. There may be a number of reasons they want a quick sale, not all suspicious. I can't imagine Poole is high on the student list, there is no Uni there (correct me if I'm wrong).
Are you aware that you can google crime in a local area, it will give you all the reported incidents on a map so you can see how safe it is - might help when picking areas0 -
Sorry AC, one more thing, do you drive at all? I know there is no car at present but it might work out more cost effective in the long term to move slightly out of the centre but have a car - gives you more flexibility with work too0

Well dads funeral went well, we gave him a great send off. My sister and I got all dolled up in the old boys honour, apparently we looked "stunning" and "very glamourous"
I'm sure you all looked fantastic and so pleased it went smoothly on the day.lessonlearned wrote: »His old regiment sent a couple of representatives,. The dashingly handsome Young 6ft 5in highlander looked resplendent in kilt and full regalia helped carry the coffin.

It was a proud moment but no more than the old war horse deserved for serving his country.
Indeed.

Thanks Anna
Unfortunately not . I would probably have found my ideal place by Now , if I could .
I'm going for a second viewing on that flat I saw this morning.
I can't see it hanging around for long .
Thanks0 -

I'll have a look at the crime thing Anna thanks .:)
1200 divided Bt 12 . Manageable , if I can get something in my budget. The idea is to include that in the budget, plus put about £12k for that alone. Not including emergency fund / savings etc0 -
What do you get for that £1200 per year? Sounds a lot to me when you break it down to £100 per month, plus whatever the council tax is, plus electricity, gas, phone etc. Then you need to think of food and entertainment.Debt free and Keeping on Track0

Thanks Mrs .p . It's just the way it is . Looking at the budget now .
I don't want to go on another load of pages about service charges. .
Can we please move on from that ?
Thanks0 -
