Glad cat is okay:) LL, you've had a lot going on for some time also, so you too need a rest :)
So, got phone call from electrician . Nice chap, he thinks the washing machine needs to be replaced , and then all should be well.
Landlady is cool with that .

Dettol is my friend at the moment . Stayed in bed until now . Today, I'm coughing , but not as much . Maybe I should replace vinegar with dettol on my dinner :)
I cannot believe I have 5 months or so to sort my life out . Scary.
I'm gonna look at that flat during the week . Surely , I cannot be a walking phlegm ball for much longer.(sorry )

I have seen a topfloor flat, 1 bedroom with roof terrace. Looks nice.
At my age / health, not sure if it's advisable. It's 3 floors.
Near everything , so I have to have a look.

Speaking of health: I have just been taking the basic stuff of the important medication .( I left out the capsule for rosacea, and calcium tablets).
Obviously , I'm taking prednisolone religiously and pyrostigamine .
However, I actually forgot to take amlipodene( blood pressure 5mg), and haven't felt any worse in that sense for 3/4 days.
I'm gonna see if I can do without it altogether.only been taking it 5 years.stress related imho, and as the tension is gone I may get away with it.
Will talk to doctor within the next 2 weeks and see what he/ she says.

Gonna start another thread about where to put the money away from sale of flat.
    Cheers :)

I suffer with hypertension AC and take 5mg amlodipine daily and there are no symptoms but that does not mean you do not have high blood pressure anymore. I have a home bp monitor and take it at home. I would rather not take the drugs either but I know from doing regular readings that the amlodipine does reduce it.

Losing weight though will help you reduce blood pressure. I am only around 1 stone overweight but unfortunately my hypertension runs in our family and I have had it since my 20s although did not medicate for it until I had my second child. If you want to come off the medication because of side effects or whatever then please see your doctor or at the very least get a home bp monitor (boots do one for around a tenner).

AC. Do not come off the blood pressure meds without medical supervision.

As others have said losing weight and getting more exercise should help bring down your blood pressure. I would second getting a monitor - £10 from any good chemist or large supermarket.

You could try making some dietary changes, for example switching to low sodium salt (it's usually called lo salt) - supermarket own brand is good enough.

Also there are a range of herbs and spices which can help keep blood pressure down and of course the big one - no junk food. It's laden with salt, sugars, fats and all manner of nasty additives.

I know I nag you about this but the biggest favour you can do for your body is to give it the best nutrition - good simple food, plenty of protein, some nuts and seeds, vegetables, salads, a little dairy for calcium and just a little bit of fruit, not too much because of the sugars.

I'm feeling heaps better today. Still coughing and wheezing but it is a lovely crisp bright day so went for a little walk. Couldn't manage far because I was gasping for breath but better than nothing.

Tomorrow I shall have to make a start registering dad's death, funeral arrangements etc and then make a start on his estate and financial affairs. No doubt my sister will need my help on Sorting through his possessions too.

That will more or less take care of January.
  • Thanks folks! I've just taken the tablet again, so worry not .
With this flu, I've been forgetful tho' and should be shocked that I wasn't bothering with the amplipodene . If it were the prednisolone, I'd know all about it :)
LL,glad you are feeling a bit better,. This is my favourite weather of all.. cold and sunny. As you say, this month will be best when it's out of the way.
The other 11 months , promise to be good for you .

Received a text last night: new washing machine coming thurs .
I've got to disassemble the old one . Not sure if I connect the new machine or not . We'll see.
Spent 95% of yesterday in bed. Went to see friend &family today.
When this flu eventually goes, I will start (slowly at first) long brisk walking.
    Cheers :)
  • So, for many today is the real day that everyone goes back to work.
Hopefully in a few months time, I'll be going back to some sort of employment. Must admit, I'm not missing anything just yet .
Here I am, sitting on a Juliette style balcony opposite trees , wildlife and similar flats.
Flu/ coughing still there, but not as severe. Woke up at 4- 7 , as forgot to turn off timer on radio. Fell asleep at about 7.30 and woke up about 10.45.
Felt 'heady', but went to the shops and took home cod and chips.
    Feel better now:)

On Friday , I will be looking at 2 properties with the same person/ estate agent. Then I will have an eye test .
Was gonna do viewings Thursday , but washing machine will be coming.
Tomorrow , I've gotta buy some tools as I have none in the flat and my brother took mine. They walk anyway:)
Feels like a Monday . I've decided not to go back to the gym,for obvious reasons.
    Have a good day

Ooh I bet cod and chips down there are fab. You have got me salivating at the thought........

I too am still coughing and wheezing away. I gave up with the antibiotics (yes I know you are supposed to complete the course) but they were making me feel so ill I just couldn't stand it any more. I have still got a tummy upset from the wretched things.

I've got good strong lungs, Ill be ok without them.

Tried to start the ball rolling re registering the death, still waiting for them to ring me back with an appt.

When my mother died it was the Easter weekend and we ended up having to wait for nearly 4 weeks to get an appt with the crematorium. I reckon we are going to have similar issues now due to Christmas and New Year.

The moral of the story......dont die over a bank holiday. :o

Glad you are keeping it together LL. My friends wife also kicked the antibiotics into touch for same reason .
In Southern Ireland where my parents come from, there is very little delay when it comes to funeral arrangements . The longest thing being the church service / mass :)
Best of luck getting things together .

AC - I do wish you hadn't mentioned cod and chips! Our chippy closes for the winter (one of the "advantages" of living in Cornwall - I don't think).
