AC your landlady is expecting far to much of you to set up the new washing machine. It isn't a case of connecting it to the water supply and putting the hose over the outlet and then plugging it in. A new washing machine comes with huge bolts at the back to keep the drum from wobbling about when it is in transit. Do this wrong and the machine could break and also leak like mad. if you are in an upstairs flat the water could damage the flat below.
  • She has sent me email . Said she paid extra . She said , they may install it as well . If not, could I ? She told me that there are 2 people in the blocks I could contact if I need help.
    I expected this . No surprise .

Even if the delivery people (AO?) do install it please be careful. My youngest paid for installation of washing machine and Fridge freezer (partly to get rid of packaging as well as having other thing to do on moving day) but they broke one of the feet off the f/f and didn't remove the transit bolts from w/machine. Luckily she realised when she used w/m for the first time and there was no damage, and the f/f did get repaired but took two visits by engineer.
I think After Eight mints are called that because after eight you tend to feel a bit queasy. _pale_ Missing Pep*i Max (first leg of my cutting out the cr*p) but must be careful not to replace it with other equally bad habits. Christmas cake anyone? Cheese and biscuits? Chocolate covered brazils?

    Feeling the love :grouphug:

Dates and After Eight mints, dreaming... You are making AC's diet look healthy! :rotfl:

To each, their own; I have no room to talk, believe me, I just feel like swinging the lead today... Must have caught it from your LL, AC.

Really wish I could learn to love fish (see previous post) - would be so much better for me (but not deep fried in batter I guess). Unfortunately I love pasta, rice, bread, and cheese - all the things the doctor has said I should reduce. I do like vegetables and fruit and actually tend not to snack, preferring breakfast (porridge), lunch (soup or sandwich) and dinner (something meaty with carbs). I used to just have a biscuit with tea before bed but bad habits have crept in and with all the stress of the last couple of years (DD's mental breakdown etc.) it has become routine to sit and have a cup of tea and a slice of cake in the daytime too (sometimes 2 or 3 times). The Pep*i habit also crept up as I tried to stop the tea/cake thing but don't like other drinks. I am trying to force myself to drink water (yuk!) throughout the day and will be cutting expenditure on "unnecessary" foods to try to recoup some of cat's dental bill.
2017 = the year dreaming gets a grip!

Bless your heart, dreaming, you lovely person, you. Your posts are so kind and often inspirational.

Just a thought but soft drink wise, have you thought of either fizzy water or (my favourite) soda water with a little fruit juice, or even squash added? Just a hint to flavour it. I find this very refreshing and almost guilt-free.

Please take care of yourself, dreaming. This forum is a better place because you are in it, imho. You seem to have a knack of saying what I want to say in a far more diplomatic way than I can find. I'm not known for my tact... Maybe in the next life, huh?

    Respect. S xxx

Oh Smodlet, what a lovely thing to write - I really am feeling the love, thankyou.
Funny thing is I am known as a very direct person in the real world and it has gotten me into a lot of trouble over the years. I can edit myself better online I think.

I have tried the fizzy water but dislike most "fruit" based drinks and actually dislike the taste of water - either from the tap or bottled. I have a very strong sense of taste (and smell come to think) and have always been known to be "fussy". I have only ever really drunk tea, cola (only Pep*I max), or red wine (the last one not daily!). I do like Waitr*se Pink Grapefruit squash occasionally.
When eldest came to live with me a couple of years ago it came out that drugs and drink had been used to mask certain other mental problems (and exacerbated them), so I stopped having alcohol in the house to help her. I also lost 2 stone fairly quickly as I couldn't eat with all the worry (not a diet I recommend). As things have settled into what will now be "normal" I have found the weight lost has crept back on because of the treats I thought I deserved because life wasn't so great but I need to sort myself out now that she is as sorted as she is likely to be. So yeah - I understand how difficult life can be and how hard it can be to break habits and learn good ones, and that all you can do is treat each day as a fresh new slate to write on.
Anyway - I thought you and I had agreed we were both coming back as cats. They are definitely not tactful!

I love you, dreaming, I do. You take care, please. Your daughter is lucky to have a mum like you. She has no idea how lucky...
  • What great posts above. Dreaming , smodlet and all I am rooting for you always. We all have problems in life, and nothing is easy. Unless you are David beckham / kate moss etc.
My eating habits are the most difficult out of everyone I know .
The only veg I can eat ? Potatoes and peas. Wish I was a vegetarian , but if I don't eat meat, I'd probably be dead by now.
Speaking of after eight: there was a box in the fridge when I arrived here.
This has led to me buying 2 boxes a week . Roughly .
If you like cola .. curiosity cola is supposed to be more natural.
Nice though . But only have it once in the blue .
Before the move, I was having robinsons barleybwater with soda water.
Now it's lucozade / orange juice/ volvic dependingnon moods / energy levels.

So back to washing machine : I turned water off under sink.
I could not for the life of me , twist the nuts to,free the hoses.
She has a dish washer as well. Not happy about that .
Tomorrow, I'm hoping the a O,guys can finish disconnecting and help, out.
There is water in the drum of the machine as well . Gotta be up around 7am tomorrow. Not liking that.
    Wish me luck
