Oh poor you AC. My DD and I had rotten colds last month which sound similar and wiped us both out for well over a week. No fun either if you are on your own and no-one to make a cup of tea for you (although actually I hate to be fussed over). Must admit I tend not to take lemsip but do go for a generic decongestant plus olbas oil as I tend to get blocked ears and/or sinusitis.

Good that you get on ok with landlady, but nothing wrong in being on your own at Xmas as opposed to any other time (imo) but then I quite like my own company. Don't get too much time alone any more since DD moved in but that is a whole other story.

Just stay warm and eat well, and rest.

AC Sorry to hear hear you feel so rotten. Not much you can do really. Just stay home, stay warm and ride it out.

Don't fret over spending Christmas on you own. Not all families are happy families. Just enjoy the day doing the things you enjoy. Treat yourself to some nice posh bung in the oven food. It's only one day.

Another one who can't take lemsip, it upsets my stomach. I just make up a hot toddy.

Don't know whether it would clash with your meds but I take "night nurse" so I can get some sleep.

Another vote for night nurse or day nurse if safe. AC, Contac is a good one if you just want to dry your nose/mucus up but check with a pharmacist for contraindications with your meds.

Deep sympathy here my friend cos it's a rotten time of the ysar to get the lurgie. Are you able to take a flu jab each year, If so make a diary reminder for next October.

AC, flat being on a busy road is not necessarily an issue provided the main bedroom is at the rear. However go look when you can, no hurry.

Ac stay away from milk and milk products if you have a runny nose etc as milk makes mucus worse. Martin has loads of tips for cheaper cold remedies in his email out tomorrow. Hope you feel better soon.
  • Thanks folks !
I'm not bothered about spending Xmas on my own. I've done it the for the last 2 years. My landlady, was just encouraging me not to , as she knows I'm on my own . Very nice of her.

Yes, night and day nurse is the way to go. However, where I'm based , there was none in stock so I may go and get some tomorrow from nearest chemist . Contact 400.. Not sure if that's still going. It was good , back in the day .
The annoying thing is, even when I first had m G , I was never this bad .
I just think it's that everything has caught up with me over the last 2 years.
Funnily enough, I don't want the flu jab. Obviously, can't have it now anyway.
I will be back on berroca once this is out of the way in a few days.
I used to never take any time off etc. Always there. I aim to get back to that.
