Yeah, a whole new innards in my case but hey?
As I may have implied, we don't do Xmas in this house: As far as I'm concerned, that is the correct way to spell it as it should be crossed off the calendar however, I defend to the minor inconvenience all o' y'all's right to do it... {True Blood has a great deal to answer for}0 -
Smodlet.....Lol.
.
Of course it is......
I'm just knackered..........I'm like a zombie today, with full blown fibromyalgia pain.
Never mind after dinner I shall have a sulk in a hot bath and a glass of something purely medicinal. :rotfl:0 -
You carry on, petal. Cheers!0

I am not a person of faith - i just like the Pagan rituals and a bit of baccanalia.
Don't forget it's the christians who hijacked the old midwinter festivals.
Had to smile this afternoon. My Muslim taxi driver said "only a week to go". . I asked him if he celebrated Christmas. He laughed and said "you bet"......
For me the real spirit of Christmas is family and friends coming together, spending time together with a bit of feasting and frolics for good measure.
A bit of extra light and warmth to break up the winter gloom.
Wendym you'll get there, we always pull it off in the end.
If dad can't come home for Christmas we will take it to him...:rotfl:0 -
Some of us don't need to be told not to forget... The Christian church hijacked all the pagan festivals except for Midsummer; apparently, they had no use for it.0

Too many murders to solve?
You're right, it needs work before I/we set off for Edinburgh.
Hope you're not in the grip of full blown flu, AC. The rest of us seem to be in the grip of various forms of hysteria.0 -
Had To cancel last weeks Physio.
Went this morning....she took one look at me and said."my next appt has cancelled, you can have a double session, you need it"
The orangutang walk is sooooo not a good look.:rotfl:
So...........Double torture:eek: but TBH its only the massages keeping me going at the moment. Come the New Year I need to make some big changes but more about that later.
I am one of those people who cries at daft movies and goes all soppy over babies and animals but when it comes to real life trauma I rarely cry. I just absorb all that pain and stress and it goes straight into my muscles hence the fibromyalgia.
Yesterday at the meeting with my dad's medical team my sister was wracked with sobbing, I sat there dry eyed. I knew I'd pay for it later and today I'm struggling. Good job my car is an automatic.
Anyway I think I feel a bit easier now after some heavy duty pummelling but am going back to bed. Try and sleep it off.
And then, hopefully, get that tree decorated.
Thank goodness I bought the presents earlier.
Had a quick look on RM last night. The ones I'm monitoring are still there.0 -
You sound very similar to me LL. I seem to step outside of myself when "stuff" happens and become this very calm, composed person who just gets on and does what needs to be done. Later on, when things calm down I can suddenly burst into tears over something very trivial. I can't watch the end of the London Marathon because I get so emotional - not at the professionals in the lead but the ordinary people who have made this great achievement (I can feel myself welling up just thinking about them). Unfortunately it does take its toll somewhere and I have all sorts of aches and pains but when I asked my old doctor if it might be fibromyalgia he just said "what is fibromyalgia?", as if I had just made it up. I do have arthritis which comes and goes, but some days I struggle to get up from the chair whereas other times I feel like superwoman. My health was one of the reasons I wanted to retire early so I could enjoy life whilst still relatively healthy. I too need to make some changes - have slipped into bad habits in the last year or so following difficult circumstances.
Hope AC is getting some rest and feeling a bit better.0 -
Yes AC. Is quiet today.....perhaps he's having some rest at last.
I have just had a nice long sleep, but my limbs feel like lead. Cant even be bothered to have a bath.... i must point out I'm not dirty I have showered today.:rotfl:
Dad now on gentamicin.....the nuclear option of antibiotics. If this doesn't work nothing will.
Dreaming. My husband always got really emotional watching the London marathon too. I think it's one of those events when you watch "ordinary people" with awe when you see what they manage to achieve. Brings a lump to my throat too.
Makes you wonder how many of us are sat round our TVs at such events, all getting "something in our eye" :rotfl:
Like the Christmas tree scene in "Home Alone" or when the Snowman has melted the next morning.........
Re the fibromyalgia - it's difficult because a lot of doctors don't really understand it. I found I only really got it under control by overhauling my diet and as daft as it sounds by regular exercise such as yoga or Pilates. It sounds odd to say that you reduce pain in aching muscles by exercise but I have found I have to keep them moving and keep stretching them. You have to move or you seize up. Cold damp weather doesn't help either. Neither did the car crash.
I saw a nutrionist and she really helped me. We worked out what I could eat, what to avoid and what supplements to take. And of course regular massages help remove the lactic acid build up and releases the knots in the muscles to keep them loose and supple, otherwise they get very tight and then they either go into spasm or tear.
The problem is when you have fibromyalgia any emotional stress seems to be held in the muscles. It's hard to explain isn't it because there is nothing to see, no bruising or swelling, nothing obvious to the naked eye.
Physios usually spot it very quickly though by the way we move and by our posture. They can also quickly spot any muscle wastage. The only way I can describe fibromyalgia is it feels like your body has been hit by a truck. It can even hurt to take deep breaths.
So Dreaming, like AC we need to gradually make a few changes next year. Enough rest, but not too much, plenty of gentle movement, good diets and the right kind of exercise.
2017 is the year we get serious:rotfl:0 -
Okay: great stuff written above :;
Brief update : feel& felt absolutely awful . Spent a fortune on lemsip
etc, and money thrown out the door. I did however ,fill two binkiners full
Of discarded tissues . Did not go out today.
My nose constantly running ,mucus coming out my mouth constantly.
Sorry , gross but true .
Landlady came today . She said morning ,but it was about 11.45 Am
She is the boss so to speak . She has some good points to her though .
She is encouraging me to make friends and doesn't want me alone at Xmas for example . She is looking out for me regarding the flat for sale opposite :
The lady who owns it has early stage of Parkinson's and it is dated .
She told me to get familiar with the area ,and that the flat I may look at is on a busy road .
She is thinking of getting a new washing machine ,but I said to get an electrician first. Had to explain to her a few times my logic.
If that fails then a new machine will be next. The filter is not on the front btw. She never noticed fridge door ..I may not have done it . She is a little blunt at times but is ok if that makes sense
So , nothing to complain or worry about then ,for now .
My immune system is completely shot ,and TBH I don't know how long I have this .0
