  • Ok ..felt mellow enough reorganising the loft . Took a few hours .
All the magazines are in black bags which are splitting in the hallway.
The phone rings, it it is on my bed so I leave it till around 4.15
    Didn't realise the time TBH

Missed call from brothers mate . He is furious when I tell him I have removal men booked for weds . He has hired a lorry expecting to go to Poole on the thurs . I told him I tried to get him yesterday but couldn't .
He claims to have tried me ,but it's a lie . I offer to pay fir lorry cancellation . Eventually ,he agrees to do the rubbish run on Thursday .
I have no idea how much he is charging .
My brother phones. And I explode ! Told him to speak to his friend .
I don't care about either of them and told him that ,with a few 4/6 letter words . I honestly felt calm before that phone call. I wish he said he couldn't do either job . I need two jobs doing .
    My fault I guess .
Spoke to my other brother .Yes ,I owe him a fortune .

Hungry now . My brother may appear now . I feel ok . I think
  • Actually Smodlet it's glorious here.:rotfl: Not exactly tropical of course but a nice crisp autumn day. My favourite weather. I wore a nice warm poncho and gloves and went for a walk in the Park. I now have nice rosy cheeks and a healthy glow.
    .
Called in the little shop. Bought the last half price pheasant, so that's dinner sorted.

AC next week you will be taking a morning stroll round Poole harbour, breathing in lungs full of that glorious healthy sea air, working up an appetite for a good hearty lunch in a nice cafe overlooking the harbour. Bliss.

Just hold on to that thought, see it, feel it, taste it in your minds eye to get you through the next few days.

Frankly......stuff your useless waste of space of a brother. Borrow a bit more from your helpful brother and hire a Skip and have done. Just make sure you pay him back immediately. He's family, he has first call.

£250 to clean an empty two bed flat. Daylight robbery. It's two hours work, if that. That's more than a full day's work for a gas safety engineer.

£15 an hour here top whack. Ok double it for London rates. Dad's cleaner charges £10.

A one off clean, even with an agency and paying London rates should not come anywhere near £250. And no they don't include the outside windows in that quote, maybe the inside if you're lucky.

Enthusiasticsaver is right. If it's going to cost that much then just go the DIY route. It's so easily done when it's empty.

Yes I can't see the point of all that travelling between Twickenham and Poole either. You will be exhausted and I can't see it being any cheaper. It seems like a pointless waste of time, energy and money. Why not get all your business in London done first and then move down when it's all wrapped up.

Do you actually need to be in Poole to receive your goods if it's all going into storage.

Can your useless brother not house you for a couple of nights if needs be. He owes you that much. Surely you have a friend with a sofa, failing that book into a Travelodge or Days Inn or similar. Ok not on a par with the Dorchester but it's only a couple of nights.

I have done Several long distance moves, once with two babies under the age of 4 and my husband working away on business. You just need to be logical and systematic. Lists, lists, lists.

Just make sure that you Can access anything you are going to need in the short term. Make sure it is boxed and labelled separately and kept "to the front" of the storage unit.

You are panicking, overthinking and overcomplicating matters.

The others are right, you need a nap and then maybe you will be calmer and able to think more rationally. As it is it sounds like you are running around like a headless chicken, exhausted and yet unable to sleep.

If you are not careful you will make yourself ill.

Moneywise leave your bank accounts as they are for the moment. The arrangements you gave made with your solicitor are fine. It's far to near completion to start messing around. Don't muddy the waters and cause confusion. The letting agents will also need to run financial checks so don't start making changes now.

When funds are cleared, all debts paid and you are settled in to your rental then you can do a financial review and start switching bank accounts but for now leave well alone.

I have to go to Poole with the removal guys ,as I have to purchase a lock , fill in forms bring I d etc. (Gott fill stuff online for big yellow first)

I then have to come back for the rubbish run .
If my brother takes Thursday off, ( he hinted ) then maybe I could find a b&b for one night .

When funds come into my account , I will look for building societies and credit union to spread the cash I have .
Regarding payplan : I'm not sure how the offer I make is handled .
I also have to think when to make it and how

Well I think you've made a lot of unnecessary work for yourself and just added to your stress load. Hey ho. It's done now, no point crying over spilt milk.

But the expression "a*** about face springs to mind" ;)

TO be brutally honest, given the the messing about, there is no way I would be trusting your brothers mate. You have no idea what he is going to charge you. Also if you hired a skip, you just fill it and walk away. You don't have to be there for them to collect it, so no need to make that journey back. Your call.

I think the advice to wait for settling your dmp is very sound. As long as you can account for how the house money is spent they will take all that it account. So maybe better to buy your next property first before making an offer. You could save yourself thousands.
  • While I was typing the above out,my brother appears .
In the middle of our usual arguments ,his friend rings
He sounds fed up ,and so did I . I just asked 'are you doing it or not '
    Yes.'how much?' '£300'
    'What time ?' 9 0 clock am .

Brother was trying to entice me to the pub,but the state of me in appearance and mind obviously I declined a few times .

Thank god I've got tomorrow off. More packing , and seperating rubbish from removal stuff . My brother said I didn't need to do the loft .
    This will all be over

Regarding payplan. My review is due around Feb , but they
start sending texts and emails around Jan .
I'll have to google and find out how much they want to know. about me

Dont think I'll be able to buy in the tight schedule before the review
  • £300 sounds a lot to remove rubbish AC. Have you got a lot? Your brother and his mate sound toxic and your brother is wrong you do need to do the loft.

He was under the impression I made work for myself ,as his mate would've done it . I wasn't to know .
Yes , I have a fair bit . He can now dismantle the two shelving units in the loft .
  • My brother may have a point . He thinks I'm completely mad for doing what I'm doing . He thinks I shouldn't have told the work people my plans.
He thinks that I should have bought and sold at the same time .
He has my head in knots . Maybe he's right

Your brother makes no sense AC.

What harm can telling your ex work colleagues your plans do? Chances are you won't see them again.

Same with buying and selling at the same time. This is difficult to tie up when you are moving a short distance let alone 100 miles away. You had no money to pay for searches and surveys up front. You don't drive so difficult to view properties all in one day. You don't know the area and are not 100% sure of your budget. This way you can take your time to find the right property and not be rushed providing you are sensible and don't blow your budget in the first 6 months.

He has got you worked up and you need to remain calm.
