Re sleepless nights . . . .
I have learnt to try to 'embrace' them and not toss and turn worrying and stressing about everything (and nothing). Generally things seem better (even if only slightly) on getting up in the morning. I also try to look forward to the next night by thinking that I will sleep better as I'm so tired - although I have to admit that it doesn't always work! Somehow it does keep me going!0 -
There is something in the air.
My OH, although lovely in many ways, cannot be trusted not to lose anything. Until recently he always escaped any consequences, but the elves are deserting him.
He insists that I am simply being a fusspot by suggesting that leaving keys in the door of the former coal store, now wine 'cellar', is not safe. Today he admitted that they were missing.
So hours searching, call out to locksmith, and by now you have guessed the end of the saga. Original keys in pocket of rarely worn apron.
Some time I will tell you about the 'missing' wallet in France. How we laughed.
Tales, more tales, please wendym... there are elves in your house, too? Imagine! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
My OH finds the concept of putting things back from whence he got them completely alien, too. Is this a testosterone thing?
Gotta say, I am grateful to them; the bin elves visited today and the downstairs loo soapdish elves, yesterday... pity about the software-buying gremlins, but I guess you have to take the rough with the smooth...0 -
OK the wallet in France.
Day 3 or 4. Had I happened to notice his wallet? Er no. Usual search. Retraced recent steps etc. Missing. Fortunately had almost all our cash with me, also both passports, tickets etc. When I say fortunately, of course I mean Do you take me for a complete idiot?
So cancelled all cards. Hotel owner then warned of huge fines if stopped while driving without a licence and insisted we must report it and get the necessary paperwork.
A morning in the local police station, with much muttering about whether they were authorised to deal with such a serious criminal offence. Faxes exchanged with Consulate (seriously) 50 miles away. Police then closed for lunch, so we returned and wasted pretty much the whole day.
On the way back, got the very helpful petrol station staff to check with their opposite number on the other side of the motorway.
A quarter of a mile from home, he asked whether we would both find it really funny if the wallet had never made it to France, but had spent its holiday in the drawer where it lives.

My daughter reckons she has three children at home to look after, the teenager, the near teenager and the big one - the dad of the other two!
And don't get her started on the subject of multitasking...0 -
I am resigned to the fact there is nothing to be done about any of them... I'm sensing I am not alone. It's a good thing we love them, isn't it?0

Good one!!
I actually slept well last night. Cat curled up on my bed. He came in about 1 am, after a night out with his mates. Lol.
Amazing the difference a good nights sleep makes, I feel quite human this morning. That is until I go to the Physio later .....
AC how's the packing going.0
