Breaking up life into doable chunks can be really helpful. You are so much braver than me at the moment. I'm working on fortnights, and can still get into a 2am tizz about half a dozen things.

I'm trying to cure myself of what iffery. If the thing that I'm worrying about happens, then it will happen and I'll deal with it.

Or run away and hide, of course.

    So, scared but tired.
When I was telling my solicitor of my plans, he did say I need a few friends in Poole . I don't know that many . Hoping I'm still doing the right thing.

It's not the number of friends that count, it's the quality of friendship that matters. :D

Anyhoo......you will soon meet people. People at the gym, in the coffee shops and if you volunteer you will meet new people there.

Then there are hobbies (your music). That will open doors.

Your friends will also introduce you to their friends and families.

Then there are classes, meet up groups. The possibilities are endless.

Then of course when you find a job there will be workmates.

Wendy is right try not to think and plan too far ahead. It will all come together.

2 am tizzies. Oh yes. They do come at you, usually out of nowhere. No rhyme or reason.

Had a really bad night, ended up in tears - just thinking about my late husband and missing him like crazy. Couldn't sleep, awake till 5 am.

It happens from time to time. Just part of the grieving process, but of course today I feel like a limp rag.

It's been over 2 years now and still the grief engulfs me from time to time. It's like being hit by repeated tsunamis .....

Today I'm resting, pottering, did some Yoga, went for a walk, will cook a nice supper, will watch "Cold Feet".

Hopefully I will sleep tonight and then tomorrow I'll feel more like my old self.

My only experience that comes anywhere near yours was the sudden death of my father when I was fifteen.

Grief is exhausting. I can't remember who said that nobody tells you how much it resembles fear.

Sending you what my daughter used to call when small 'thinking thoughts ' for a night's sleep and a better day tomorrow.

Thank You for the "thinking thoughts":rotfl:

I'm sure I'll feel better after a good nights sleep. Things always seem worse when we are tired.

But yes you're right - grief is exhausting. I'm just resting on the sofa, warm and cosy, cat on my knee. I'll be fine.

Sorry for your bad night LL and yes grief hits you at unexpected times I find too. I found myself welling up 20 years after my dads death on my youngest daughters wedding day just thinking he would have loved to see his granddaughter get married. My mum was the same.

AC this is the start of your new life and you have many things to look forward to. When we moved to West Country from London I did not know a soul and although I had my OH and a baby and toddler I missed my friends and family initially especially as OH travelled a lot for work and did long hours. Gradually I made new friends and old friends and family visited too. It will be a new, hopefully healthier and happier new life for you. Volunteering is a great way to meet people. Eventually you will get a new job, maybe part time and meet new people that way. My daughter is moving to a new city too and she has a few close friends there and they already inviting her out on their sovcial get together so she can meet new people in her new home city. Maybe your friend in Poole will do that.

My thoughts are with all of you lovely guys, for whatever that is worth. I dread nothing so much as losing OH, for all he is driving me nuts at the moment.

He has gone and bought this stupid piece of software, which does not work (he has been using the free version for years so I don't think it's him) from some random bunch of (imho) charlatans who are in either USA or Australia as the invoice came in both kinds of dollars... does he know what either is in £? Does he, ****. Did he have the wit to buy it on a credit card, so we might have had some kind of protection? Answers on a virtual postcard...

I am girding my loins (while assembling my kevlar suit and lead apron) to go over to the techie board and see if I can salvage something from this horrendous mess.

If anyone was wondering, £1 is now almost the same as $1... Brexit, what have we done?

LL, I know you are in pain but, if it helps at all, maybe just consider for one second how much worse your life would have been if your loss meant nothing to you... You know and I know just how wonderful a privilege it is to find "the one" you were meant to be with. Not everyone is so lucky.

I bet you, too can remember times when you would have liked to take a carpet beater to his backside (not in a pervy way) :rotfl:

We are all here for you; I think I can say that, now... Wish me luck with the techies!

Hugs to all of you, AC, LL, wendym and anyone else who needs 'em right now. :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:

There is something in the air.

My OH, although lovely in many ways, cannot be trusted not to lose anything. Until recently he always escaped any consequences, but the elves are deserting him.

He insists that I am simply being a fusspot by suggesting that leaving keys in the door of the former coal store, now wine 'cellar', is not safe. Today he admitted that they were missing.

So hours searching, call out to locksmith, and by now you have guessed the end of the saga. Original keys in pocket of rarely worn apron.

Some time I will tell you about the 'missing' wallet in France. How we laughed.

Okay, just signed the contract .
My solicitor , thinks the buyers are dragging their heels .
He will contact them and suggest , exchange on Friday and complete 2 weeks after that .
He thinks it could be longer , so just as well I'm not rushing .
    We'll see .

It sounds like things are finally moving along. Good luck.:A

Yes.....Shakespeare was right......"better to have loved and lost and all that.......".

And yes he could be a pain in the proverbial. :rotfl:

I'm lucky, we had 34 years together and we have two fab sons.

Loving the tales of your menfolk.....

Smodlet.....Hope you get the techie help you need.
