Thank you fireslde;)
Started cutting back on food on Boxing Day . I also started walking
TBH, I expect the overdraft to be clear in a few months. Going to see my mum, then the funeral meant I had no choice .
Gone are the luxuries of crisps and lucozade. Chocolate is reduced;)
Believe it or not, I have an aero Pilates machine( not used as much as it should be ). Once my brother moved in ( 5 years!) it was stuck in a corner.
Today , I'm gonna give it one last chance by moving furniture around in my living room and try again.
Continuity , is something I haven't had for years regarding fitness.
I was constantly changing shifts with my colleague ( who has a disabled wife). Then when he is on holiday ( or had a hip replacement) it means I have to do a full day(early&lates).so most of the time I was burnt out .
However , excuses have gone and I need to carry on what I started on Boxing Day- lose 45lbs!
Being a realist, despite earning just over£25k a year , I know that I'm a t the higher end for my job( Postroom/ facilities). However, it is not enough living in London. Health wise , I finish steroid in mid Jan ( hopefully forever) although I have to take a few blood tablets. Breathlessness and overweight are main problems. ( my has caused breathlessness). My left eye isn't so bad now, but tablets help it.
The job ( which I never really liked) has got boring/ tedious . I've done well to keep going since 2007/8.
When I lose weight I should be more employable . But wages are lower these days, and I cannot see me getting as much in another job.
The sensible side says move, pay mortgage on another place and work part time/temp. I think a week commuting, will tell me that next week;)
Happy new tear to you

Hi AC,
(I realise the relevance of the post may not be super obvious but I think if you can start feeling more healthy you will feel more able to tackle other areas of your life)
I hope you're not offended by the suggestion but I recently joined slimming world and gaining a new perspective with a positive healthy eating plan and the support of the group has really given me a boost. I've found my small success (losing 5lb so far since Nov although there are others that have lost much more) makes me feel a bit more capable in a wider sense.
I realise it's tough for blokes to start going to a class (and you see yourself as more a pub person than a slimming class person) but the classes are heaving in January and there are blokes there. I go to a group that had sessions at 10am, 5pm or 7pm and choose depending on my shifts. Their approach means you can eat some lovely and non limited foods if you cook them in their method (e.g. Spag Bol and pasta, roast dinners) but limited treats/snacks and some processed carbs.
Anyway I don't work for them and I'm sure other groups are good but I do wish I had found this approach earlier to realise I could eat well and lose weight.
No need to reply to my post just for your consideration.

I may as well give you an update on what's been going on;
Finished work on Xmas eve , with the intention of painting the flat on my time off, and use new exercise bike purchased online from tesco a week before Xmas.
What happened was I cut down on size of food portions from Boxing Day till now. No more crisps / lucozade. Did 3 days of power walking .
Put bike together before Xmas , computer on it not working and it felt horrible. Took it apart and tesco picked it up on sat. Getting a refund .
Been tired , plus a lot of pain in my legs and I've been stiff as a board.
This is probably down to the fact I've reduced a steroid on 16 dec.
Next sat, I should be off steroid altogether ( fingers crossed).
Still on a few other tablets tho '.
Today I'm doing the early shift , so will use the cardio board on aero Pilates machine today and all the time ( if I can).
What's next ?0 -
Well, off prednisolone ( evil steroid), for 2 weeks now . My body is paining me all over. ( hope it's just a side effect). Got annual review of my dmp due
I sold a bass guitar and rare single to clear overdraft .
Nothing has been painted since last August .
Looked on Internet and if I'm in pain , best to leave Pilates alone for now.
Gotta see specialist on16th of this month.
Until then I'm thinking of nothing0 -
Haven't been on here for a while . Thought I'd give you an update as to what's going on in my head :
Saw specialist in Feb - he mistakenly reduced the steroid too quick. Hence the pain and lethargic motions . Unfortunately, back on2 of those horrible steroid tablets..but I feel/ look a lot better -apart from being overweight .
Got to see him middle of May .
The job is getting worse . Not in a way of friction with my boss, but in the nature as to who I have to liaise with regarding my duties etc.
Plus my colleague is altering things behind my back etc.
My brother was unimpressed when he called around to my house last Sunday while I was in bed . He wanted me to contact hmrc about his tax .
He let his property out for 5 years. I managed to complete his form.
He made 2 payments by cheque. I told him to phone hmrc( laborious I know)and pay no more, as he has no additional income and he has been living in his flat for a year. He called me selfish, started telling me I'm nothing without him and stormed out.
Because of my shift pattern, I will always be overweight .
So, combining all of these factors I will finish painting my flat and will be moving to branksone /Poole if everything works out.
I will be going there for 2 midweek days in May and June , where my friend will show me the best areas to go.
Then I show proper interest and start the most important move of my life.
I aim to buy a flat outright and go part time / temp for the rest of my days.
No more £850 mortgage .
I'm scared doing this on my own ..:)0 -

Good luck, I hope you have a lovely break in Poole and find somewhere to live that you love!
With regards to your above comment that not true! Shift patterns have nothing to dowith you being overweight - medical reasons might but work shifts are just an excuse (sorry if that sounds harsh!). Have you thought about joining a weigh loss club, Weight watchers or Slimming World? The doctor can refer so it's free and loads of options on class time - it's not just for women you know
Anyhow keep being positive and your new live will hopefully be much better0 -
Thanks Anna. I get up at 5 am , whatever shift I'm doing.
One week is great hours.
The other shift means I don't get home till gone 7pm.
By that time the gyms are full.
Working in glorious London (one hostile building site ), does not help either.
I've got to stay focused on the task ahead now.
My brother is very blunt( you don't like twickenham etc) .
I like twickenham , but can't afford to go part time , which is what I want.
Then I can easily shed the weight etc;)0 -
Why are you fixated on the gym? There's loads you can do at home or even just go walking
(Also, do you have a 24-hour gym nearby?)
Good luck!

Shift up to Liverpool. Beautiful city, you can get a studio overlooking the docks and have 100k+ left over. Alternatively the Childwall and Woolton suburbs are beautiful areas, for 200k you can get a refurbed 3 bed semi.
There's always the choice to move to literally any other country in the worldStarted 07/15. Car finance £6951 , Mortgage: 261k - Savings: £0! Home improvements are expensive0 -
Thanks again;)
I choose the gym,as I am allergic to most veg. Plus , it is the thing that works for me. If I move , then it is an outlet and something to look forward to. If I had continuity I would be a lot fitter
Mm.. Liverpool . Nice people , but my London accent may not go down well.
Other countries? A fan of Scandinavia tv ( and females) maybe Scandinavia .;)
