  • Last week commuting on South worst trains was a nightmare . It seems like evrerytime I do the late shift , there are problems with the trains .
Even this Monday , the 6.19 train ( on my early shift)was cancelled (they say delayed..but by
18 mins !!!!!! !?). It has made me wonder if this is another sign telling me to move .
I will be seeing my friend in branksome in the first weekend of December .
He will show me around a couple of places. Ashley cross looks nice, and he recommends it . A lot to think about .
  • So , my brother is still warning me of the pitfalls. He thinks I should just carry on the way I'm going and stay put . If I had a few thousand in the bank, or had a couple of holidays I might agree with him , but I'm always broke .
I'm going to Poole in mid December to see my friend , who'll hopefully point me in the right direction. It'll be easier talking to him in person , rather than email or phone .
I'm not split in two , more three. The latest thing that is in my head is to sell flat - put stuff in storage- pack in job - go imediately on a break .
    Then decide .
Btw: I am in the process of buying exercise bike from tesco.(£160)
That would help me in the meantime to lose weight before I keel over.
  • One of my friends thinks I'm completely stupid doing the move.
He said I should get a job first , and that it's easier to move if you're a family/ couple. He thinks I'd run through the money I'd make buy selling the flat and end up with nothing, stupid crazy idea etc, ;(
At least he's honest , which is what I need
  • Trouble is, everyone has an opinion. Doesn't matter if it's right or wrong, it's their opinion. I appreciate that this is a massive decision to make but it needs to be your decision. It's fine to get opinions, but it does ultimately need you to make the decision in the end...
  • True, and I love the honesty. I'm normally the person who is 'safe', and never takes risks .There is always someone worse off than myself , people divorced left with nothing etc. Something does tell me I need change next year . I feel that if I don't do something , nothing will improve .

Is this the brother who came to stay with you and gave you all sorts of grief? Maybe he is worried he wont have anywhere to stay if he needs to if you sell up.

In your circumstances I would not go into a b and b. There is nothing more miserable and expensive if you are on your own. I would imagine that would cause you all sorts of problems depending on other people living there. I also would not spend vast amounts on a holiday before finding somewhere permanent to come back to. I would normally agree it is better to find a job first in the area you want to move to but realistically that might be difficult and as you have so much equity I don't think it would be too much of an issue for you to move first then job hunt. A holiday could come after you have settled down a bit.

  • Yes it is that brother;) he retires in 2 years , got a tiny mortgage so everything is going his way .
Yes the b&b thing may not be the way to go . Interesting what you say about the job side of things. If I saw me looking for a job, I would see a fat5 0something breathless person( I don't sound to breathless sitting down) and I wouldn't employ me in this condition. One of the reasons I want to get fit before looking for employment . Regarding the holiday side of things, tbh going on my own, I'd probably go for a couple of weekend breaks . Hopefully , whatever decision I take will be the right one .
  • B and b are not ideal as you will be limited to convience foods and eating out. It will be a nightmare to eat health and cheaply in a b and b. how about a house share or air b and b, where you have access to a kitchen. You may get more local knowledge from a lock this way.
  • Mmmm, not really me , but it's something to consider ;)
  • So, dreadful journey into work this morning . (Train reversing back to Clapham junction, then joining the already overcrowded platforms at cj)
That , along with the incredibly tedious bus journey from bishopsgate to Waterloo is convincing me London is way too much to deal with .

When I first started my employment at bishopsgate 8/9 years ago , the city of London was a building site . A culture shock , compared to Holborn / west end . Now in 2015 , it's got worse .
On Saturday , I'm off to Poole meeting up with pals where my future will be discussed. For some reason , I'm still remarkably calm about everything ;)
