Nicky_sue - I like things like files and folders for storing bits of paperwork, plus jars and cookware from the pound shop (obviously these are no good if you're not into cooking) as my mse gifts. And you can never have enough pens (although that might be the teacher in me speaking).

yes that's a good idea. for receipts and important papers.

and totally agree about the pens! we are forever losing pens in our house, and then I bought 2 packets for a comp and they are everywhere!

sold something on ebay :j it's one of those items have been relisting loads... lol

Which browser do you use , Aesop? I've always used IE in its various editions since the 1990s, I've just got into the habit I suppose. Can't say it's always been trouble-free though:(. I'm still happily on Win 7
I'm just the same CBC :D Though I suppose I will eventually have to move on when they 'kill' off Win 7 like they did with XP :(
I know - I'm a bit of a dinosaur but why have to spend time learning a new system when happy with what I'm using atm.

I bought a New Laptop (Lenovo) a few months back as the old one died. It came with win 8 and immediately Igot a "Free" upgrade to win 10 - took hours and detatched my little laser printer completely - Samsung refused to supply a software fix - simply saying - Buy another printer - yours is too old !

ot around it eventually - but it immediately rejects my usb card reader as "defective" - (it is only single speed ) - but eventually it grudguingly accepts it.

Stick with win 7 as long as you can girl ! - I'm seriously considering having a go with linux !
  • Pleaed you got your sale Aesop - They Do go eventually don't they ? I was ploughing through some of my old stuff today and it's amazing how much I have sold eventually - I got a "offer" on a £120 item of £70 - so I went and looked up the "New" price and found it was £1200 - So I put the price up to £175 !

Another wants me to GIVE him a £245 item for £80 and post it to Portugal !

    - Bless 'em ! x

Great question, Nicki_Sue, I'll be very interested in people's ideas to get more organised:T

If you want to be really MSE don't waste money on buying a savings tin. There are lots of suitable containers you can use instead of buying anything;). You can always cut a slot in the top, seal it and decorate it if you want.

Pop over to the Sealed Pot Challenge if you aren't already a member, there are lots of savings 'pots' mentioned on there.
Yes - I'm on that thread. I recycle washing whitener pots to use for saving. Cut a hole in the lid carefully, screw lid back on and tape up with whatever you have to hand. Also non-breakable if you drop it when it gets heavy ;)

Here's a curious post for you, while I plug away at surveys and the like. Hubby is waiting for a list of ideas from me (to buy - we have a budget for it) for Christmas and I'm thinking of MSE friendly gifts (not money, vouchers etc). Things to help me stay organised, save in 2016 etc.
    Any ideas?
My first thought was of a poor man's terramundi i.e. a pound saving tin.
    What do you think?
I use a wall calendar with large squares and write all the dates for renewals, yearly payments, appointments etc. Each year, when I start a new one, I go through the old one and transfer dates across. It hangs on the wall in the kitchen and so I see it all the time

    Evening all :hello:

Sorry I've been missing but my DS is here for a few days holiday from Ibiza so a bit time-poor.

Haven't had chance to make any pennies today and probably not any more this month apart from weekly scans etc.

I'll try and do a couple of posts the morrow and it looks good for the 1000 :T

    Re the money-saving/making ideas.

I have envelopes for all the different budgets each month such as petrol, groceries, wine etc. I have the total amount allocated to each category written on the top of the envelope.

I keep all my receipts on a paperclip each month. At the end of the month I total all the receipts under each category on a large sheet of paper. On each envelope I add the allocated amount and deduct the amount spent, thus showing the +/- balance in each.

If an envelope is heading into the negative I know I must have a good think about our spending in that area. Hope that makes sense :rotfl:

Hope you all have a money-making last Monday of the month
