Thanks Procastinater, I knew you would know. :j
I've given up now. it's been happening for a year, and in 2 weeks nothing has happened to fix it. except my machine getting new unneeded parts :rotfl:
I just leave the door open so it doesn't start washing by itself.
But am glad to finally have met someone who knows what is causing it!
The washing machine is only a few years old so no chance of landlord replacing it. He won't replace the boiler until it gives up, even though parts are obsolete.
lol :rotfl:- Minor urine extraction one feels :T
Didn't realise the machine still worked - even tho' the lights have gone wappy !
x I guess if leaving the door open solves the problem - that's fine :cool:0 -

Sorry lass - I'm on his side on that one ! - If you can get the bits and your gasman is good enough why fork out several grand on something which has built in obsolescence ?
Mt own gas man re tapped and replaced an old imperial valve in my old boiler with a metric one - when the "Corgi-man" said it was a "No go zone" - £30 against £3000 - annoyed - what me ? when it was the stupid Corgi joker who broke the damn thing in the first place trying to put his "test meter" on the nipple ! because I had to have a "Gas test cert" - [whistle..:T..}0 -
Still up:eek:. Tried going to bed but just couldn't get off to sleep. Very unusual for me, however worried or stressed I am I always fall asleep straight away as soon as my head hits the pillow. I feel so sorry for insomniacs.
OH is going away for a few days:j and has to get off early this morning (hence his need for having clothes washed to take with him but he's got lots of others so I can't see why he made such a fuss about taking the ones that needed washing:mad:). Maybe that's why I can't sleep, I'm worried in case he oversleeps and doesn't go because he misses the pick-up;)
Sorry about your technology problems, Aesop, it's a real pain and a frustrating time-waster that's for sure:(. My laptop is running a lot cooler since I had a few goes at blowing the dust out but I've also ordered one of those stands off eBay that you linked to:)0 -
Hoping someone might be able to help. TCB are doing this "hunt the hummingbird" thing (my phrase) they call it Sweet Treats. Browse find a hummingbird might win a prize. Do you know what I mean?
It was working fine earlier and the banner was popping up at the bottom... I think I accidentially clicked it off. Anyone know how to get it back? I'm doing quite well and although there's not much hope of winning I'm quite addicted.

It's been a bit hit and miss for a lot of people as far as I'm aware. I think I remember someone saying something about clearing your browser history.

I hope everyone's having a good start to the week. Wind and rain have stopped and the sky is blue here. Delivered OH to his pickup point in good time and I have the place to myself until he comes home on Friday. All's well with the world:j:dance:. Still got to sort out the washing machine problem but not planning on doing any washing this week so I can take my time to find the most cost-effective option:)
Just checked online banking and discovered a £43.85 refund from Scottish Power:T. Not sure what that's all about as my contract doesn't finish until January and I certainly haven't requested a refund. Not only that but they decreased my DD by £10 a month from this month too without me having to do anything. Will phone them later to see what's going on. I'm always more than grateful to receive money, especially when it wasn't expected, but I can't help feeling they've made a mistake somehow:eek:0 -
well done cbc, I won a prize on facebook, that's one of DS' xmas pressies sorted :j
I am sure Martin put something in his newsletter one week about the top 5 utility companies overcharging customers and having to pay some money back.. I am with SP and looking to move as they are very expensive, not as bad as BG but still.....0 -
Well done on the prize, Aesop:T.
I know SP have had a very bad press over their customer service etc but I've never experienced any of the problems that have put them bottom of the satisfaction pile. Things like them never answering phone calls etc. I've been so pleased with their CS whenever I've had cause to phone them that I've sung their praises all over the place:).
Not sure if I could get a much cheaper tariff to make it worth switching. We were with nPower before and they were dire:eek:. We haven't any mains gas in our village so use oil for the central heating and electricity for cooking and everything else ,which often includes halogen heaters as OH frequently refuses to have the CH on (needless to say he pays for the oil;)). The amount SC charges for the electricity-only online tariff seems fairly reasonable and I find their online billing and website in general an object lesson in clarity. Who are you thinking of switching to? Does your 'fix' come to an end in January too?0
