thanks to a lovely lady on facebook, she has found a new phone app like the old receet app. Does anyone remember it?

am waiting for her to set up the referral thread which will be after lunch and then will post details here.

So anyone with a smartphone, or tablet, ipad, etc. dig out your receipts and keep them ready. You can only upload receipts upto 2 weeks old, and it looks like there are games you can play to win extra points.

And with xmas he usually gets clothes from me which he is not impressed with lol as he has nothing wearable.

It's difficult - I have a 2 year old nephew. His mum (my sister) doesn't have a lot of money but likes to buy him toys for his Birthday. My sister's partner's family buy toys too. At his last birthday he had so many toys we couldn't move!

I knew he needed new shoes and a winter coat so I bought those. I figured he would get enough toys and at the age of 2 wouldn't really understand anyway. My My mum got some small toys and put some money in his savings account, and my auntie sent a cheque.

I'm happy giving useful things but did get dismissive looks from the other side of my sister's family! However, I'm happy that he's warm and will probably still be wearing the coat when all the toys have long been forgotten!

I am adding £3.30 to my total, I just got a cheque through the post from my Save as You Earn scheme - most of the money has just been used to buy shares, but there was £3.30 left over.

    Total = £47.29
  • I have sold some bits on the local Facebook group this week and have just cancelled a membership which gave me a $40 refund. I am counting this as money earned as it was originally paid so long ago :)

sorry to hear about your laptop. What antivirus do you currently use?

I can recommend free antivirus that is highly recommended by top IT guys.

Also, I know you are doing a full virus scan but it depends on what antivirus you are using.

I can recommend malwarebytes for a full scan for malware and adware.

CC cleaner to clean up redundant temporary files and cache history that clogs up the computer.

Then download, install and run only of these as a full virus scan.

    https://www.malwarebytes.org/antimalware/

    only install free version

once installed run to clean the laptop.

    https://www.avast.com/en-gb/index - the free version

    or

    http://www.avg.com/us-en/free-antivirus-protection - the free version

only install one version though and run.

Thanks for this advice Aesop. I am completely computer illiterate - if it doesn't switch on and work then I don't know what to do with it. I ran my AV software (which is McAffee) and that sorted most of the problem out - then left it running the malware while I was at work. Fingers crossed, it seems to have worked, but the ICT technician at work has taken pity on me and offered to look for me if I take it in next week. I'd rather an expert looked at it than trust my own judgement. :o:o:o:o:o
I have big news - well - big for me. I got a cheque for refunded PPI this morning for £176. Well, with a bit of budget rejigging I managed to find the £341 that I needed to make my final payment to Stepchange. So I can officially call myself debt free. I feel I should be more happy than I actually am but I don't think I can quite believe it... Ah well - so I've made some cash and become debt free. Strange day indeed but I'm not complaining...

    Evening all

Sorry have been MIA but had a bad week all round, starting with the dead freezer and wasted food, compounded by the £200 for a new one and just continued until this afternoon - so was feeling a bit down and out :( Don't think the grey and drizzly weather helped either.

    However, I picked up today.

Counted my Sealed Pot challenge and have more than enough there (over £1200) for our March holiday :j

My DS asked me to lend his friend £1000, which he was going to give me back when he comes to see me at end of the month. I was very worried that he might lose out if the friend didn't repay him. The friend texted me today, asking for my bank details, and then repaid the whole amount into my account :j

Car insurance was due on Sunday. I looked on the cash back sites and moneysupermarket.com and managed to save £25 :j

Won £2 in draw on GFK survey site :j

So I'm feeling much better (and more solvent) now and ready to get back on the horse - or is it wagon :rotfl:

Hope you all have a super Saturday
