Abandoned Vehicle on my Drive!

its funny how so many people criticize the police until they are dragged from a burning car, or their missing 5 yr old is returned safe and well, or the burglars are caught red handed....everyone forgets those incidents!.
Not sure how I would feel if I had just been mugged in the High Street and there were no Police Officers available to deal because they were dealing with a car parked on a drive instead!
Problem is, crime continues to rise, expectations have increased, what is defined as 'a crime' has increased, but numbers of Policemen have not increased by the same ratio. And NO Community Officers do not count!
I dont think I can drop a bigger hint than I did earlier, use the 'causing me alarm and distress' line, if the station you went to wasn't very helpful, try another one0 -
The OP didn't post whether the car had a valid tax disc on it or not.
If a car doesn't have a valid tax disc on it. Then if it happens to be on the public highway then most councils will have to remove it, if it's reported, as it's an abandoned car.
Normally abandon cars I've reported have been reported by at least 2 other people if it's in an annoying location i.e half way on the pavement.
Now I'm not saying the OP should remove the tax disc before rolling it on to the road......I'm not cynical I'm realistic
(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)0 -
Very amusing to those reading - and yes, I laughed too - but how enraging for OP. I think in your shoes, I'd be going along the route others have suggested.
Oh dear, car owner. I'm really sorry that my 1. HGV 2. farm tractor 3. trailer full of well rotted manure (for my garden, you understand) has broken down and blocked your car in. The hidden weapon in 3, of course, is that the neighbours will soon be onto the council re the stink! Good luck and hope you get it sorted soon.0 -
Can you disclose the reg number of the car?Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.0

I think I would also go to the paper.
Say the police have ignored a bomb threat etc. Make them look bad!!!
Seriously though, I would've given them 48 hours, checked with all my neighbours, then smashed the window, released the hand brake and pushed it to some double yellows, or somewhere that wasn't my drive. It will soon be gone and how are they going to prove it was you?0 -
Perhaps someone reading this post knows someone that has access to DVLA database and is sympathetic to the OP's situation and if the car reg is disclosed perhaps that person can give the details?
Just a thought!0 -
Interesting thread this... can't wait for the final outcome... keep us posted Col.Mastard0

Wear gloves so not to leave any prints and don't sneeze or anything in case you leave a DNA trace, lol!
Dress in black so if asked what you are doing you can say that you are delivering a box of Milk Tray!.....0 -

I dialled 999 twice in 20 minutes the other night first because a gang of about ten 15/16 y olds were seriously breaching the peace in a very unusually loud and riotous fashion, which reminded me of the aftermath of a serious stabbing two years ago in exactly the same spot, and I called again when I became aware of them giving serious abuse to a middle-aged man outside my house and that they were swinging weapons. The man had also picked up something to protect himself and was backing away down our street. While I was talking to the police the second time I witnessed an actual assault when the gang threw things and the man was hit on the head. I of course immdiately told them what I'd just seen and asked them to come immediately. I heard no police sirens and I heard nothing more from the police.
They were probably too busy dealing with cars parked on private property.0 -
Great thread and some good ideas.
If it was me, I would get some local chavs to come and nick it during the night.
Looking forward to seeing how this plays out (assuming it's not a wind-up)dolce vita's stock reply templates
#1. The people that run these "sell your house and rent back" companies are generally lying thieves and are best avoided
#2. This time next year house prices in general will be lower than they are now
#3. Cheap houses are a good thing not a bad thing0
