Not very OS, but we have a restaurant at work. They do a gorgeous soup, sweet potato, coconut and chilli

One of the benefits of the job, sandwich/soup/jacket potatoes on the daily subsidy so nil cost to me, or for £1 can have a hot meal

Black beans scream out ham hock and treacle to me. Any help?

I used to do a ham hock in cola and use the liqueur to make a black bean soup ;)

I think it was inspired by a Nigella recipe, so that may be your starting point.

Spicy Black Bean Soup - Cookie and Kate

I've used this one before but I don't like cumin so I left that out and I don't use sherry vinegar because it's not something I would buy.:)

I usually have a dollop of Alpro soya yoghurt on top with some sliced jalapenos and then a soft tortilla wrap or tortilla chips to dip in.:A

    I made Celeriac Soup yesterday.
Very easy and quick but I hate trying to peel celeriac!
Celeriac, small potato, onion and garlic all sweated in butter for about 10 mins. Then added 1L veg stock, seasoning, brought up to boil, reduced to simmer for approx 20 mins. Place in blender.
If I've got some cream I add a drop, and it's especially nice with crispy bacon strips as a garnish, but it's fine on it's own with nice crusty bread.

    Thanks for this

I had a celeriac to use up and it tastes lovely - I added the leaves at the end to add flavour, but missed out the cream as I was going to freeze it in microwave soup mugs for work lunches - can't wait - yum....:D

Tonight's soup offering is a Turkish red lentil soup. Reminds me of some wonderful holidays over there :D

About a cupful of red lentils, diced carrot, diced onion, garlic, tomato pur!e, veg stock, ground cumin and a pinch of cayenne pepper or chilli powder to taste. Bung everything in a pot and simmer for about 20mins, or until lentils are cooked through. Blend roughly (shouldn't be smooth) and season to taste. Serve with flatbread.

I made pumpkin soup today, yummy. Pumpkin, red onion, honey, curry powder, garlic all roasted in olive oil then blended with vegetable stock.

Pumpkin Soup as already mentioned is lovely, but IMO roast the pumpkin first and use a lot of ground nutmeg, this raises it to a new dimension, I think the original recipe I used was from Delia's Complete Cookery course. A friend and I once made a huge pressure cooker each for a Halloween party, all ages, and lots of people who thought that soup only came out of a can, it was such a hit it was requested year after year.

I've never come across a decent supermarket soup! To me they are all tasteless and packed with additives, canned I find particularly nasty. Can't beat HM.

I've just seen an advert for this. A load of marketing b*llocks of course, but the flavours may inspire us to DIY.

We enjoyed this many a night at the restaurant under the old tin bridge in Manavgat. On our last night I asked them for the recipe! This is an adaption of what they gave me!
