  • We used to have a long running soup thread on here which kind of fizzled out last year. Any dedicated soup makers might want to browse through it for a bit of bedtime reading! I still make a lot of the soups I discovered on there.

I am hooked on Broccoli and Parmesan soup.
I had broccoli and Stilton soup from the freezer earlier, yum. I won't make it again until the New Year, even then only if I find Stilton at a bargain price.

My favourite has got to be my butternut and chilli soup. Served with good fresh bread and butter to me is better than anything I would eat in a restaurant.

Re Butternut they're 50p in MrM's at the moment or 59p at Aldee. Not made any soup today.
Why pay full price when you may get it YS ;)
  • Butterbean, bacon and leek soup. Smoked bacon works best for me.

Ooh, I love soup. I always make a pressure cooker pan full of it on a Sunday evening to have for packed lunches during the week. My favourites are always the smooth soups rather than chunky ones, usually carrot and coriander (or ginger), or roasted butternut squash with chilli, curried parsnip, or sweet potato and red pepper.

I quite like a hint of coconut in these sort of soups, but tins of coconut milk are quite pricey. I've found a cheaper alternative - a large carton of dried coconut powder (by Maggi, I think) which I found in the foreign food aisles of Mr T. It cost about £3 but you only need to sprinkle a couple of dessert spoons of the powder into the pan of soup to give it a delicious nutty flavour so the box lasts absolutely ages.

It'll be pumpkin soup for the next few weeks as I grew half a dozen pumpkins in the veg garden this year and they are all mahoosive!
