Yes it is, but french people understandably won't call a UK mobile as it costs them more (unless they are also with leClerc whose calls are EU rated)
Still hoping Redux will pop in and tell me how to get that much cheaper PAYG charge SIM as am spending Xmas and NY in France and would like to call friends..and port my no across, which takes quite a while in France to do

alright, two days with Google and i got it at last i believe. Thing called Freeje. It's an application for mobile phone. Works as callback service. I have to admit website is awfully bad, but I'm satisfied with service. Sorry as newbie I can't Post a link. Just google it Freeje.

Well you could purchase a couple of asda's sims if you dont mind using different numbers.At the moment they have new sims for £5 with £10 loaded.Just make 1 short call every 3-6 months just to keep the cards live.Very useful for short calls and texts.

Their carrier is vodaphone,check out their rates to see how they compare in the countries you are off to.For me they were the cheapest without the offer.(South Africa)Hope that helps

Remember a local sim will always be cheaper if your phone is unlocked.

I am going to Moscow for 3 months. What is the cheapest sim card deal out there. I will mainly text uk mobiles but will occassionaly call a UK landline.

I see that T mobile want £7.50 a MB for data roaming in the USA - Ouch
So what's the best option - get a card there ? I've looked on ebay and can't find any data cards there

This could be usable but I would really like to know a simple way to prevent Windows 7 from auto updating itself when using such a stick - that would cost a small fortune.

Most of the prepaid carriers have data bundles you can buy. However, tmobile seems to have one of the best options. get a tmobile sim (ebay, target, walmart, etc.) or just walk into a tmobile store, they will give you one as long as you add credit. Then sign up for the daily unlimited data for $1.49. Besides, there is a lot of free WiFi int he US. Assuming your phone has WiFi of course.
