Received a short reply: stated that receiving texts from Virgin, Orange and EE is a known issue and that some handsets find 803 too short.

    EEEUUGH

I will get a prepaid Telstra SIM when I get to Australia :D

Judging by the previous post these SIMs can be a PITA and I will NOT be taking a mention on MSE as a recommendation for a product again :money::mad:

Telstra is BT = expensive. What calling/data/texting requirements do you have ? prepaid/contract and I'll try and help out.
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)

    Thanks for the offer
Looked on their website a day or so ago and their 30AUD SIM kit is available for half price online at the moment - 15AUD. Was thinking of asking one of our family to buy one for us to use on arrival.

Our needs are not large - no data, just a few SMSs and calls back to the UK and Africa to our family, so Telstra's offer would suit us, I think. Using our normal UK SIMs is somewhat prohibitive

I'd suggest Toggle Mobile is worth looking at for Australia. You would have UK and Australian incoming numbers on the SIM, free incoming calls, and call here (landlines and mobiles) and Australian landlines for 3 pence a minute.

Thanks again for your input. The Virgin AU deal sounds good - I'm a Virgin UK Mobile user here - 15 quid for (almost) all you can eat is a winner :T

Hopefully they can be picked up at Newcastle Airport on arrival.

BTW. What does CAP in their list mean?

Well Optus own Virgin Mobile AU after Branson sold it to them, it was a reseller of Optus.

Remember the T-Mobile Flext plans ? Well they were based on the AU CAP plans, and were so good value T-Mobile was near bankrupt and now we have EE lol

There is a newsagent in the airport I know that, it might sell sim cards, like UK most AU shops sell them for a dollar, Virgin being owned by Optus one of the big three should be available anywhere Optus is as they use same distribution model, and that's a lot of places !

Hi guys, could anyone offer advice of roaming in the Canneries please?

Myself and partner are both with Tmobile not sure if its EE now!
partner has an iphone5 full monty package
I'm on sim only full monty plan to
can we use any of the minutes or allowances whilst in Tenerife for two weeks? if not any ideas for cheap roaming whilst over there?

    Thanks
  • I very much doubt any "inclusive" data or minutes will work in the canaries. I bought a local Lyca SIM in Majorca in an internet cafe.

To avoid being the next people with tales of massive roaming data bills, turn off data and roaming at the UK airport.

Many bars have WiFi to use.

    Have a nice holiday.
  • I am not sure I understand this mobile roaming and calling from abroad so can someone please explain in very simple terms the best/cheapest way for me to use my iphone in Egypt for calls (receiving and making) and internet/emails. I understand the wifi in our hotel is very expensive and also intermittent but as I run my own business in the uk I need to be able to keep in touch with the UK for 2 weeks. Should I buy a local SIM but will that give me internet access and how cheap are the calls on it anyway. Do I need 2 phones putting the cheap sim in the second phone? (This is where I have got myself really confused!). Any advice gratefully received. By the way my provider in the UK is O2 and their Europe roaming/travel package doesn't include Eygpt unless I want to pay £120 for a month. I have just managed to get O2 to unlock my phone though. Thanks

hi i have had problems using the sims2go sim while on holiday
in turkey, normally whenever i have used it before it connected fine but this time when i tried to make a call i kept getting the message 'this agent id is not enabled' i tried all the usual things but nothing worked. strangely i was able to find out how much credit i had on the sim and when i checked my account online it showed each call i had attempted.

i contact sims2go daily during my holiday but so far i have received no replies at all from customer services. i have used this sim before in turkey and i wandered if anybody has any ideas or will i just have to give in and accept the lose of both card and credit.

I am having exactly the same problem now in Spain. No response to emails or to phone message. Did you get anywhere? Does the company still exist?
