  • Please let me in on the secret...

Over the last few pages, several people have mentioned that they have used £10 and £15 voucher codes when shopping at Mr T. Where have these come from?

Somebody said they were also using their coupons to make up for the fact that they pay the delievry charge -it takes me 3 months to build a coupon of £4.50, so how do you get enough?

Adding insult to injury, somebody also mentioned a delivery charge of £3.99!!!! How do get that so cheap?

I've had a look at all your signatures, and I don't think you're all spending more than me, so come on: what's the secret? How do you get all the Mr T points?

...Maybe you're all just having me on...maybe this entire site is a spoof (that'd explain why Quidco never works)...oh my god, my entire life might be a spoof...eh hem. Somebody give me a clue before I get all paranoid. Please.
Ssshh - I might know about deals in/near Keswick

    Hi

I am new to the challenge and would like to give it a go. I know we need to save all the receipts and everything the first month, which we will do, but just to give me an idea, can anyone give me a rough figure of a sensible budget for grocery shopping for 2 adults for the month (myself and my partner)?

    Thanks!
  • Hiya,

MS virgin here :D ....count me in. Got a budget of £174 for the month for me, dh and son whos 1 (amazing how much he eats though.) Got quite a bit in the freezer and batch made some stuff for ollies teas so should last him for a while. Fingers crossed.xx
  • So glad to clear my sig for last month with my massive overspend. Might add a note on my sig just to remind me.
Anyway, off to a good start with my shop this month. £16.06 on basics and I'm in the middle of defrosting the freezer ready for my batch baking session tomorrow. ;)

I am in again this month went to pot last month as was on camping holiday and was shopping daily, really need to pull those purse strings in as I am not going to have enough saved for xmas, so bringing back the bread maker, slo cooker and definately get back into home baking and meal plans, I managed to half my shopping total when I first joined but sliding back more and more lately.
I have had one online delievery from Mr T and spent £65
My month lasts from Aug 25 to Sept 25 and I am aiming to spend £300 on 3 adults, 1 teen, 1 fat cat and other DD who has her own house but often drops in meals with her bf like they do!!
    Good luck everyone

Aiming for £220 to feed 2 adults and 2 toddlers - plenty of OS and HM should do it... will be doing my first shop of the month with Mr T online later today so will stock up and do our meal plan for the week...

    Good luck everyone!

Welcome Ashfan! I'm sure one of the board guides will probably tell you exactly this, but it's a case of "whatever suits you" in terms of your budget. Everyone is different and we all have different things that we include in our budgets. I think it's more about controlling what you spend and trying to shave it down little by little until you find a comfortable level

It's probably best to establish what you are spending at the moment by keeping your receipts (yes, ALL of them!) and then take it from there.

I have a budget of £200 per month for just me and OH but, as you will see from other posters, their are people feeding a family of 4 on less than that!

Good luck with whatever figure you settle on
  • Hi

This is a first for me as I'm new to forums so I hope I get it right!
I would love to join Septembers challenge we've been spending £475 a month( for 4 of us) and I need to get it down to £350 which I know sounds loads but we're useless at cutting back. I've been reading all the recipes and made my months menu but with you guys out there hopefully I will stick to my budget!
