Back from my first weeks BIG shop of the September challenge.
Hoping to come in around £35 pounds but ended up spending £41.
Didn't buy any junk food though and have plenty of staples, lean meat and fruit and veg.
I will have to be very careful until next week as I am already £6 over budget and will probably need milk.
To make amends I am not going to do my next big shop until a week on Friday...so I have a fair bit of menu planning to do.
Good luck with the challenge folks. X x X0 -
I am going to join in if I can! I am going to try and stick to a budget of £300. That's for a family of five plus 2 cats.
My first delivery of September will be delivered on Tuesday, so fingers crossed!:D0 -
I'm in!! I'm a grocery challenge virgin so not sure what to budget but going for £50 per week. Wish me luck!!!!

Over the last few pages, several people have mentioned that they have used £10 and £15 voucher codes when shopping at Mr T. Where have these come from?
Somebody said they were also using their coupons to make up for the fact that they pay the delievry charge -it takes me 3 months to build a coupon of £4.50, so how do you get enough?
Adding insult to injury, somebody also mentioned a delivery charge of £3.99!!!! How do get that so cheap?
I've had a look at all your signatures, and I don't think you're all spending more than me, so come on: what's the secret? How do you get all the Mr T points?
...Maybe you're all just having me on...maybe this entire site is a spoof (that'd explain why Quidco never works)...oh my god, my entire life might be a spoof...eh hem. Somebody give me a clue before I get all paranoid. Please.
The £10 voucher codes mentioned are not to be confused with the clubcard vouchers that Tesco send you and can be spent in store/ swapped for deals.
These are the codes you might have seen on vouchers you may have got in your mailings that have a code on them usually looking something like xx123- 1234. You use these to get extra points/ save money on Tesco.com grocery deliveries, often at least saving you the delivery cost, if not more. The price of delivery varies during the week with the cheapest days being mid-week and (not sure exactly when).
Many of these codes can be used more than once and by many people and so kind people post them on forums for everyone to use :T. They can be found in the discount codes and vouchers section of the forum. See also the tesco threads in the shop but don't drop forum for details on how to use tesco health and beauty vouchers (these are referred to as H&B)to best advantage (and often get more off than you spent) Paidtoshop.com is another forum site you can join and see how people are using vouchers and codes to save lots of money.
It is a bit confusing at first, but can be addictive - Good luck you will soon get the hang of it!!

Hi
I've been following the August challenge and would like to join in for September. I don't have a specific budget in mind but taking on board some of the great ideas on this forum I've managed to cut down waste and got more organised. Plus, saving money is a huge bonus. I get paid tomorrow so my month will start from then.0 -
Working as a Part Time Lecturer is great sometimes, nice hours, long holidays the trouble is when I dont teach I dont get paid and as my last hours were in July I have just received my last pay until work starts again in September when I then have to work a month in hand, which means no pay until 31st October!!
Every year I have a plan, to budget really carefully to account for this, then we always go on holiday and it all goes a bit downhill form there really, I seem to stay in holiday mode for the whole of 6 weeks holidays.
So I have eaten my last take-away and had my last BBQ (with wine of course) and need to get to grips with my spending.
After ambling through the forums for inspiration I came across this link, so Im ready to join my 1st grocery challenge, although I have no idea how much I spend. I have set up a spreadsheet for a spending diary and have told my OH to be good and tell me what he is spending at work etc.But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.0 -
I am in for September. Target 400.
Last month we were away for a week and had a reasonable store cupboard to rely on. Having now eaten most of this I think the 400 target will really be a challenge so I have set 2 'new month resolutions'
I am going to update my grocery signature weekly to help me stay on track.
I will also visit the meal planning threads before I do any shopping.0 -
Hi can i join this challenge i have a target of £200(fifty pounds per week) this month for me and my four children and will start on monday if that is ok today is about sorting out what i have in already(freezers and store cupboards) and what can be made from them first.0
