    Hi,

I'm going to give this a go this month.

I'm going to start gently and go for £360. It's quite high as there are 2 of us and a baby who is on formula and gets through lots of nappies!

My September is going to start tomorrow with a trip to Mr Morrissons.

    Have a good month everyone!

  • After getting a bit overexcited, getting paid early, and it being Bank Hol, we've nearly spent our budget all ready

Pub meal, picnic food, barbq food and drink and ice creams £51.70
    a few bits £13.64
    milkman £15.64
    big shop £120.25

Thank very much for the info about the Mr T voucher/coupon/code thing.
I'll definately be doing some homework on that.
It's occurred to me that what you actually get sent personally might vary from region to region (maybe depending on how much local competition there is?). Certainly, we can't get the cheaper delivery charges (I've just double checked), so I'm hoping it's not the same for the other stuff...
Ssshh - I might know about deals in/near Keswick

I'm in again...dropping budget by €10 to €330 (£221) so hope to make it...only had €4.33 left in August but started month on 27th July. Going from 01 Sept and have decided that we will do a shop for all 'dry goods' and just add on fruit, veg and milk for week to 7th, then top up for those things each week...different approach so we'll see how it goes...three adults one almost five year old and an aged cat. Need to buy extra sugar as there is rhubarb and elderberry wine to be made this month....managed to 'find' some demi johns for free from someone who wants rid of them!

Good luck everybody, will keep posting

Well, not even done my MAIN shop this week yet...and have spent £41.13!!! This has gone on contact lens solutions (lasts me around 2-3 months..don't wear every day anymore!), top-up bread/milk, most of my household/cleaning stuff from Wilkinson, large pkt of nappies and £8.53 on some wine/soft drinks for a BBQ we went to on BH Monday!!

Have ordered my main shop through Tesco, due to be delivered on Saturday (saving me 2 hours in the supermarket:j ) - currently showing as £106 approx, but will be less due to various offers, vouchers etc....Have already altered the order 2-3 times to take off things I don't REALLY need!!

Am determined to stick to it this month & am really keeping a full account of EVERYTHING I spend....we shall see...will update further on Saturday!;)

Had a vegbox delivered today about £18, and did an Asda online shopping, £75. Am up to £210 for the month. Should only need to do one more big shop in about 10 days time which will be about 10th Sept and hopefully we can make it last til 20th which is payday. Sp should stay to budget hopefully.

  • Hi, I'm new to all this, I LOVE the idea of a grocery challenge. I will really try to keep all my receipts - I am not sure what my monthly spend is, but guess at about £500? for 2 adults and 3 kids. Currently shopping at Lidl, but must really do some comparisons with Tescos. Not really sure Lidl is cheaper overall.
And weekly meal planning - but I suppose it must be done:rolleyes:

Have completely underestimated for August (my first time on the GC) I've got a new, slightly higher target for this month and I'm hoping with some better planning I'll be able to get it down (and it must have been much lower than the last few months as I've all but stopped buying food whilst I'm at work whereas I went for months buying lunch at work every day  :o)

I'm currently writing a list of all the things we could get on a monthly shop and I'm trying to persuade OH it would be a good idea to go on Saturday and 'stock up' will try and chat about it tomorrow night - have taken some ideas from this board.

So here goes Yorkielass and her OH will spend no more than £230 on food, cleaning products and toiletries in September. Fingers crossed :money:

  • Im going to cut my grocery bill down from £220 per month to £175 this month for my September grocery challenge.

How can I get a little note at the bottom of my postings please to keep a check on the situation?
