My second only post and I'm going to have to go back & click on a couple of 'thank yous'.
    1. I surfed on the ShopBot thingymabob for Groceries and that was such a lovely heartening surprise.
    2. I loved Yellow Monkeys suggestion of using an online Spend Diary - very neat!
    3. Finally, Curlywurlygirlys point about paying delivery charges made sense in her life as it stopped her from buying unnecessary (impulse) items rang a loud bell in me.
    Oh, there's hope, there is!

Roll on September for here's a challenge that only days ago worried me enormously and now I find myself inspired and determined!

    Bring. It. On. :grouphug:

    Bring it on!

    2008 £4000 Challenge - £245.61/ £4000 = £3754.39.11

well what a good strat, I have overspent already!!!
But away next week so have treated myself to a wine box £11.99 from Lidl, hope it`s ok!
Got some mince £1.69 for 800g so have already split into 4 lots and put in freezer, so that will do for 4 meals.

Got lots of tins and stuff in the freezer, so hope I can come in under budget this month.
  • Lil_Me thanks for the reply & the fantastic Ebay tip - I normally do get deals & was well chuffed with getting an OU course last time, but the size of the o/draft panicked me abit.

However I've just checked Ebay as suggested & a whole new world of getting more money out of Mr T has opened up. I'll be listing some till spit vouchers later. Hope to hold out for deals with the big vouchers but if not this is def the way forward.

    Thanks again
Infamy, infamy, they've all got it in infamy!!
  • I'm doing this in two batches this month - hubby and i both get paid monthly but two weeks apart...so im going for £100 between 28/08 and 11/09 and £100 between 12/09 and 25/09..

    Wish me luck...

Count me in guys - we need help!!!
I saved our receipts for this month and we spent a horrific £600!

No wonder we're all chubsters!

So this month we're going for £500 - and hopefully we can drop more and more each month as we learn better housekeeping skills. :o
(There's only four of us, and a grumpy old cat. )

Hubby and DD take a packed lunch which will come out of this budget - as will all toiletries (but I'm hoping to skate through on my stash and not buy any toiletries at all. :rotfl: )

Week 1 is designated Store Cupboard Week so I'm hoping to buy only milk, bread, veg, and meat.

Ooooooooh.... my tummy feels funny (panicky funny)!

    Wish me luck!

    Love Jacks xxx :D

    Hello everybody,

I can't believe it. I just spent ages posting a reply and it wouldn't post as I had been automatically signed out, AAAAAGGGGHHHHH, and now it's gone so thats a double AAAAAGGGGGHHH

So now I'm keeping it short and sweet. Just to say that the August challenge was a fail, and to to count me in for September. Good luck to everybody who also joins.

I'm going to try this for the first time too. I spent about £500 last month! That's quite a lot more than usual, but we went camping for a week and seemed to go shopping every day. I find that the less I go shopping (supermarket) the better.

Also, having husband and children (and extras!) at home really increases our bills; I notice it every summer. And I don't have any time to keep track...

We have some big bills coming up, so this is my way of 'saving' towards them. I will try for £300, and by the end of September I should know if that is in any way realistic. Good luck to everyone.

I failed miserably in August but with the children back at school I hope to not eat out so much this month. So I'm going to set my budget at £400 not including school dinners.

    GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb
  • I like the look of this challenge as I keep no real track of my grocery spending and visit a supermarket almost daily!!
I am going to aim for a budget of £300 as there are five of us, get the feeling this is nowhere near enough but I like a challenge!
    1% challenge - £4018 - reduce by 100 payments of £41.
