  • Thank you both - frog seems to have grown into a toad, but enjoyed mostly being inside today (that's me not the toad ;)).

GG I'm going to try Gum-tree, sounds good. I've previously used freeecycle for (funnily enough) free things, that's also handy.

KC - that's shocking about Ama3on ... I mean I know JL is never knowingly unders0ld, but I'd not expect them to beat the interweb. A good reminder always to compare! Thanks to the weekly mail, I gather Ama3on vouchers are valid for 10 years so I thought the offer was worth it as I'll definitely be buying something there in the next dacade, if that makes sense.

Thanks agin for the light - off to try GG's 'medicine' in my lemsip

  • I use gumtree for listings with a cash value and freecycle fir things i want to get rid of, which might not turn much profit / can't give to charity. I have just replaced my cooker and hopefully got someone lined up to pick up the 20+ yr old cooker to recycle for spares.
Of course, you get the timewasters, the ones expecting you to act as delivery servjce etc, but generally got results

  • Hi, Holly

hope the "toad" has departed and you're feeling better:). Sorry to hear about the bay problems, we all get them out of the blue, that's when you feel - these things are sent to try us - takes a lot of time to sort out.:( Hopefully will all work out right in the end.

All neatly bundles of paperwork now filed away and working through another lot, mostly scraps of paper that have either email addresses, phone nos, addresses or passwords on them. All need to be written into what I call my "useless information" bible. Heaven knows if I lost that:eek:. How's your organisation getting on;)

Speaking of which, my laptop is misbehaving and i'm not sure how to retrieve all my passwords so I can reset and return to the shop, where they said I could "pick" another one.

Just read over my post to you, re the "toad" you know what i'm talking about don't you:rotfl:.

How you doing, Holly? Has it flattened you? You in recovery? Thinking of you and your Dinosaur/Toad :)

Thanks lovely AFK and KC. Been proper poorly Hollyboll, a bad level of not-quite-flattened-so-must-keep-going-to-possible-work-lead-meetings and trying to appear OK, and so then returning home in a pile and sleeping for hours, punctuated of course by incessant coughing / wheezing, which the furballs HATE. dripping-nose-smiley-emoticon.gif

I've not even had the energy to read properly or post, and anyway achieved nothing to report - you'd have thought at least I could take up GG's and Dalradian's excellent advice and get some stuff up on gumfree. But nada. :(

Have slept a lot of today though and think fever may have broken:T
So going to have a catchup on diaries this evening around a doctor's appointment, and much looking forward then to 2 days with no talking, much sleeping and maybe even achieve something!

You poor thing :( that sounds a proper bad dose. Don't do too much on the computer - not that you'll feel like it, it doesn't sound like you're even starting to be convalescent :( Hope you're drinking lots to replace all those lost fluids

  • Thanks KC, much appreciated. It's been a rubbish week but I think what's causing me more grief is the fact that winter's hardly begun and I'm sick like this … last year I got sick in January and it went on for MONTHS

Went to chemist yet again - shocked at price of cough lozenge thingies, even in supermarkets etc :eek: Hard to be without them at the moment but any cunning suggestions of where/how to source these (and/or vitamins etc) at less steep prices would be very welcome.

Scraping beneath bottom of barrel for MFW news … had an entertaining (not) time with RM surveys this week. Think I posted I was 'rested', and a few hours later unrested. Called to check a couple of things including that there is no postbox outside my local post office. Was told that PO (A) not on their system (despite it having come up on my profile) and should be going to another (B). Expressed surprise as didn't know B but said fine. On way to doctor went past address of B - no PO. Checked with postlady who confirmed there hasn't ever been a PO there. Called RM back (suggesting I get extra bonus for extra feedback :rotfl:) - they said thanks very much (no extra bonus) they'll feed it back. But the system might automatically rest me in meantime for not posting from PO B (which doesn't exist).

On reflection, not sure this actually constitutes MFW news. I did get my free stamps, last week, but not convinced more will be forthcoming ….

I almost live on Halls extra strong mentholyptus and Home Bargains normal price 37p. Supermarkets 2 for 80p on a good day (they have brought the price down quite a bit recently). Local pharmacy last time I looked was over 60p. For vitamins Aldi have some good prices on some but it is limited.
  • I like ebac for dehumidifiers but not for stupid government initiatives.
I also like ones that switch off at "optimum humidity".

Hope you are feeling better today hollybol, I stocked up on winter cold medicine from £1 land after reading a post a couple of years ago on mfi3 's blog. She says do it before you get ill, have a tupperware box ready of sweets /tablets etc. They don't do the super strength day nurse stuff but lots of other bits and bobs. :)
