  • Ah well, SHS, that has its upsides as well :) I went to Ikeya at 9.30pm last night to avoid the traffic and it was still very slow, AND couldn't find a car parking space for ages.
Hope you are feeling better x

    Morning all

Had a long and full day yesterday and just too tired to post. But did spend some time thinking about having had diary for one month:T

As always in life, and as anticipated by my avatar, it's been a mixed time.

smiley-sad058.gif I'm not a big lover of this time of year anyway, and feeling the lack of light, cold and often rain more since at home so much. Still not sorted a heated airer or dehumidifier - thinking the latter is probably first try, and feel constantly surrounded by musty damp drying stuff. Exacerbated (and exacerbating) lack of progress on flat sort, particularly paper demons, meaning not only rubbish environment but not in control of other including money things (did someone mention tax deadline … ;)). Deeply frustrated I've not yet cracked spending diary. And behind all this, slow/little progress on job front, time marching on, and little likely to happen now before January at soonest.

After at least a couple of years of saying I would, I've started the fleabay thing. This has cleared some space, made some money and most importantly shows that the faffing and ostriching and delaying is infinitely more draining than the actually doing, illustrating that getting down to and on with stuff is empowering and progress :T
I've twice this week been in situation of being in major retail place where in the past I'd have bought carp. Really struck by lack of temptation / engagement / etc I felt. Reckon this is partly an age thing, partly an unemployment-freaked thing but most of all definitely feel a change in mindset. Partly related to fleabay … how much junk had I accumulated?!
Diary and you lovely peeps have all helped with this, and I'm hoping that once I sort out some income I can actually make some MF progress rather than just W-ing :rotfl:
For all their naff exports, the US has some great things and I really love the Thanksgiving concept. Posting has kept me focused (lol - all things are relative!) and also wanting not to moan incessantly keeps me thinking about the positives.
I have a home, I have food, and I have time at the moment to make some choices and some changes. I have the support and inspiration of a lovely community on MFW.

I hereby commit that this time next year I will have the kind of clear and sparkling flat that should I wish to cook a Thanksgiving meal I could do so :)

Thanks for bearing with my witterings
    xx

Like yourself, I too was extremely tired yesterday. And want a nice, tidy uncluttered house by this time next year. I will feel so much more organised if I can achieve this. Lets do it together:)

:AIt feels so good getting rid of items you no longer want or need - doesn't it? A few simple steps and they are gone - and you get ££ for your efforts:j. So, well done on starting and continuing to get the items cleared:T Keep going as this surely must be the best time to sell.:D

Make the most of your "free time" just now, as when you get back to working, you'll wish you had used it more fruitfully/wisely? Now my time off is nearing an end, I catch myself thinking "I could have had this, that and the other done by now" but is it - no, had I moved myself it might have been, instead of giving myself excuses:o

Must move on, I'm looking at paperwork spread all over the fireplace and rug, all in neat little bundles just waiting to be filed away - when I have the time:rotfl:I'll try and scan them all, then they can be shredded.
So that'll be another job on the list:) Keep :) and I hope to read later on tonight, how you got on with what little jobs you managed to do today:A

  • I would definitely get a dehumidifier.

We need to replace ours that packed up. Makes a huge difference and reduces your heating need.
  • Did I read somewhere you were out of free listings for this month?

I've just had an invitation for 100 free listings 2 days only. Have a check and see if you have the same offer.:D

  • Well done on ebay, I've been fairly successful with it in the past. Can't bring myself to do it anymore though. Had a few disasters with the cost to post on larger (child items) making it not a good deal for customers, so not worth it. Also spent more than I made on some when postage was higher than calculated.

I'm good at decluttering but only to the charity shop, I like minimal, but find the easiest way is not to buy in the first place. Friends do comment that I have no stuff though :rotfl:

  • Thank you all, much appreciated :T

SHS I'm hoping a dehumidifier will sort a few things, hadn't thought of reducing heating too, all good :) Had a quick gooogle yesterday and utterly bemused by the choices and sizes, when I get there I may revert for advice ;) But nothing coming in until more gone out (and maybe a good use for Ama3on vouchers if they ever arrive) ...

sarahevie1 thanks for popping in, sorry I've not popped up onto your thread yet ... funnily (or in fact annoyingly ) I've had a couple of hassles with fleabay in the last few days - things going astray, peeps complaining it doesn't work when it did when it left here, fleabay itself getting confused, and in one case all for something on which I'd have made a grand profit of 86p! So I'm going to be a bit more selective now about what I sell and what I do elsewhere. I like some minimalism, but although I'm slowly getting better at not buying, I have a loooooong backlog of accumulation to redress ....

AFK Thank you so much for your lovely post of encouragement. I do absolutely want to look back at this time as not wasted ... beside the time off work, it's been a pretty rubbish year and if it could be the one in which I sorted flat that would be something :) Loving the idea of doing it together  although my papers are not in the neat little bundles to which you refer :eek:Thanks also VERY much for remembering and posting about the fleabay offer - I didn't achieve a lot yesterday (:o - see next post) but I did put a couple of things up and that finished off my monthly allowance, so was delighted to see your post this morning, those will see me through relisting tomorrow night what hasn't sold (and I think is worth another go). Hope youve managed a restful day today xx

  • Yesterday I had a good and very loooooong lunch using the Straada deal - we paid £3.50 each for a shared starter and a main - I had seafood risotto the most expensive option :) Restaurant not overly impressed that we only ordered water :rotfl::rotfl: Then adjourned to J0hn Lewis to use up free tea and cake voucher before month end :T So a very :money: day ... also picked up £10 Ama3on voucher and immediately got sent code for another fiver, thanks weekly email :) Very tired when got home after getting caught in freak freezing haily shower and so failed to list weebuy and get uplift as I'd intended :naughty:

Did realise though after a full day out again and an earlyish start today that I'm so keen to avoid just being stuck at home that I've been fixing all sorts of stuff out which is good but does mean I'm knackerood and not making progress in flat or on various other things. The ONLY good thing about year hurtling towards end is that I hope this will kick my pressure-promptedness into action as I'd really like to manage to sort flat before 2016

Didn't sleep great and woke up with an 'interesting' frog in throat which has grown all day and now feeling rotten. Again out most of day and then home to bed with lemsip and very non-MSE icecream and shop bought soup (which even though half price is :naughty:). Failed to manage any of intended jobs except to put some books through weebuy :T which is EVEN easier now with smartphone scanner thingy, less uplift than yesterday but they had a little one which is good. Most of my books were not accepted so will go to CS.

    Happy weekends all

Morning, hope the frog can be tamed - try whisky, that usually works :T..

V impressed at your bargainous eats :j

As I think you're near that London place I'm guessing you're somewhere built up? In which case have a look at Gumtree and local facebook selling pages. Instant results, no postage or fees. DD swears by Gumtree in particular. Also great for giving away stuff and the benefit is you've probably got somewhere you could leave free stuff so don't even need to be in for collection :T
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Taming the frog ... absolutely! Hope it happens, Holly. And the eats do indeed sound bargainous. I haven't taken advantage of the Amazon offer :( I've been buying things piecemeal. I'm getting Occitane hand cream for my sister, and after looking at Amazon, thought I'd look at JL - there went my Amazon purchases! JL much cheaper ... it was quite a shock, really!

Your light is on ... hope you're feeling okay
