  • Morning LittleMissDetermined .... I hope you had a WONDERFUL time on Holiday and that you have come back relaxed, refreshed and ready to face the world ;) It's hard to find that balance of paying back our Debts but also realising that we DO need an Emergency Fund of some sort....Don't worry, I know you will find that balance and I look forward to hearing when you next put in some money, no matter how large or small xXx :)
  • Good morning, great holiday thanks DreamerHelen, relaxed until the first hour back at chaotic work and then it felt like I'd never been away!

Pay day for me today so lots of bills to pay but managed to round down the bank account and slip £2.22 to the 3-6 fund taking my total to £77.50 so far. Not a lot, but I'm over 1% of the way there.

Hope things are all good with you

  • Well, I picked up the new car... it's lovely and it goes! :jBut the financial damage is in my sig for all to see... :(Christmas is budgeted for (phew), and then I'll be knuckling down to pay off my parents first, hoping to keep up my EF payments too, but I hate the idea of borrowing from the folks, so I'll pay that back as fast as I can.

Wishing you many years of happy, safe and trouble-free motoring in your new car:j
  • Thanks carboot! A bird poo'd on my windscreen just as I left the garage, so I'm feeling confident after that good omen...:rotfl:

Oh I know the sense of relief you must be feeling durangirl. After months of struggling to find out what was wrong with my car and spending £700 on different attempts to fix it, I went onto the company lease scheme. My new car was delivered with 4 miles on the clock. I felt a little guilty at first because of the monthly payments but honestly I've never looked back. It's the best decision I've ever made and I'll be signing up to another 3 years and new car once this lease is up in Dec next year :D

Enjoy it and happy motoring

  • Hi all, good evening!

Congrats on the new car duran girl. Enjoy!

I am so proud to say no pennies or pounds were harmed today with the Black Friday hype. I stayed in the black on Black Friday! Yippee!

The wages have come in, the new budget for December has been made, and I am a bit sad that I wouldn't be able to put a significant amount in the EF at the outset due to lots of big financial needs this month - new passports, new tyres for my car, both mine and DH's professional registration renewal and Christmas. Oh the last bit is making me worried. I haven't done ANY Christmas shopping and I don't feel like doing anything either. I'm feel like turning into a Scrooge. Can I get away with it? I know my kids wouldn't be upset if I gave them Christmas money instead as they are completely aware of our financial journey. Not sure about my nieces, nephews and close family friends. We'll see. If they love me/us enough they would understand.

The only chance I could put some in the EF this month is if I go under budget with groceries, etc and by rounding off. So here's wishing.

    Enjoy your weekend!
