  • Evening all, I managed to break the £1k barrier over the weekend :j

DH could you please update my total to £1032 :) Thanks so much xx
  • I feel a bit guilty following this thread so closely and putting nothing into my EF at the moment. Plans are afoot for the new year though so fear not. I will be on here and adding cash and witty banter ;)
Hope you're feeling a bit better Helen
  • Hi all, sorry for my long absence recently. I have just put another £25 into the EF, coming from the sales of old cd's dvd's and games to 🎶 magpie. Every little helps.

Total is now 1252.13. This month's wages are due this week and I cant wait to write the budget and add some more to the EF. I so wish I could put a big chunk into it but there a few financial commitments coming up eg

    > 2 new tyres for my car (they're starting to look unsafe for the upcoming winter £150
    > new eyeglasses for me and DS2 £200
    > trip to London for DH's and DS2's passports £200

(Why is it that when you're trying to build up your savings a lot of the "needs" come up?). Sorry for the rant.

Will update as soon as we know the real score.

Congratulations to all you savers and commiserations to anyone like me who is struggling to get started at the moment:beer:

    We will do it:j
  • Morning carbootcrazy hun....How are you this morning? I hope you're well.....I know it can be disheartening when you feel like you are struggling....But you WILL get there, bit by bit and moment by moment.....Even if you just get a Fiver between now and Christmas then it's a Fiver that you wouldn't have saved otherwise!! Or even just a pound.....This is NOT a race to the finish, everyone needs to take it at their own pace....I will certainly not be rushing because I can't....I don't earn a lot and my Outgoings are HUGE right now (due to re-training to be a Psychotherapist, the Therapy Fees alone are £100 per week for now!!)....But things will change and they WILL get better....Today I have faith in that...I don't always but today I do so I'll pass some of that faith along to you hun xXx :)

But we WILL get there hun....Just keep on plugging away....And you'll make it....even if it's in 10 years time...or 20 years time....I'll be here to cheer you along the way, every step...

Just had Brekkie....which was my usual (I'm trying to lose Weight slowly and healthily and so I tend to stick to some of the same Foods each day).....and then I'm going to get ready and head off to the Gym for an hour....back to Work for an hour from home....then head off to Therapy this Afternoon and back tonight to Work... :)

I hope you ALL have a GREAT day....sorry for the mammoth post....I can sometimes get on my Soapbox :D LoL...Take Care Everyone and remember to shoot for that Rainbow and the Pot of Gold at the end of it.... xXx :)
  • Morning all, just popping in to say hello. Still working extra to earn money for Christmas so not posting all that frequently. I continue to add a fiver a week and new total is £25. Definitely a stroll but if I took an all or nothing attitude and I wouldn't even have that so I continue plodding.

Enjoyed catching up with the thread,

    SP x
  • I think one of the great things about this thread is that we can all go at our own pace. None of us really know what's round the corner, and we're just doing the best we can. I have a sneaky feeling I'll be out of work shortly, so I'm stashing away what I can for now. In six months' time, it could all be different for me. Everyone on here is so encouraging, whether it's 5p, £5 or £500, we're realising that we need to save and working our way towards it. Go us! :T

  • Slowly plodding along and chipping away. I got £50 from the family unit this morning as a loan repayment, but due to buying a heated throw (a 100% necessary investment and also totally worth every penny) I could only put £4 or so in the EF.

But that and rounding down accounts with spare pennies, and popping in eBay profits etc puts me at

Lexbubbles - can you please tell me how you do the "rounding down accounts"? I have one current account and one savings account. Is it about transferring odd numbers into the EF? If so, when/how often do you do it? Thanks :)
