Morning Pops!
Hope you feeling more positive this morning, if you get paid at the end of the month, then it is only a week til payday!!:j If not, then sorry to get your hope's up.
I got my child tax credit letter yesterday, DH's income has gone up so my payments are going down to about £10 a week - not much with 4 kids, but hey, as our income goes up our credits go down. Swings and roundabouts. I shall have to plan carefully which shop to spend it in:rotfl:
For my sins I have a roller skating party to take #3 to this afternoon. My own personal idea of hell.:wall:
He will love it.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Hey foxholes hope the roller skating party went well? I'd be on my backside if I tried that!
Sadly I don't get paid until the 15th so a while to wait for me yet. I've gone a bit over budget with some unexpected spends so I'm annoyed really.
I know what you mean about swings and round abouts with the tax credits I'm currently looking for a higher paid job but will lose my tax credits if I earn more so feels a bit disheartening at times.0 -
I think that is only fair. We took it when we needed it, now we are doing ok again, it should help out someone else where £10 a week means the difference between sink or swim.
I know this is no help with regard to the thread but felt I had to say it.
Such a lovely attitude f0xh0les- so different from others (not always on here) who moan about not getting everything provided for them or not wanting to work because they would lose benefits.Aiming to make £7,500 online in 20220 -
foxholes I think that's a lovely attitude. I live in what is widely considered an affluent area, we also have a local foodbank (who do many more things than 'just' provide food to take home), there are lots of local collection points now and for the first time in its history it is asking for donations due to an increase in those needing to use it over Christmas. I used to use my wombled APGs to 'buy' items for there then pretty much stopped shopping at Asda when Lidl opened. Perhaps I should take some £ when I get paid and help out with a donation or two.
Sorry Popstess, got sidetracked on your thread there. I've been reading your progress and just wanted to drop by and say well done for setting those small targets, and well done on aiming for that big milestone of sub-£30k. xFeb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Hello fellow budget criminal. I had to take out another £10 on this weeks budget because I went shopping and bought loads of art stuff. And sweets. And fags. Youre bad, I'm bad, lesson learned! (My trigger was not sectioning out my money in my purse for each type of expenditure) xxJanuary 2016 £5350 in debt:eek:

Foxholes how on earth did you feed a family of 4 for £10 wow I'm so impressed please share your tips????
I'm not doing too good I'm feeling very poorly cold/flu. I'm so disappointed in myself for going over my budget ch1979 thanks for your confession that you've also gone over budget nice to know I'm not alone xxx0 -
Thanks for the tips I think I need to start having a look at the yellow stickers! All the supermarkets are driving distance so I'd worry if I went a few times a week the petrol costs would soon mount up but maybe the savings would out weigh it. Worth a try.
Not long to wait till March now x0 -
I've earned enough points on Toluna surveys to get a £5 river island voucher (I've already received a 6.50 WHS one that I put in my sons stocking at Xmas so he could a new book)
I've also earned enough points on Valued opinions to get a £10 Sainsburys voucher so £21.50 for doing a few surveys chuffed with that!0 -
Nice one! Need to look into the surveys.....you've given me an extra money saving tip :-) That's fab
For cheap food if you are not getting YS bargains, look at things like pasta parcels (I can get three meals out of one packet (add dried pasta, lots of veg and sauce plus garlic bread/with salad and potatoes and cheese/mixed into a pasta bake with dried pasta) or sausages and baked beans (toad in the hole/sausage casserole/cooked breakfast) eggs (boiled eggs/omelette/poached fried or scrambled eggs/egg mayo) I just have some basic staples which I can use in multiple meals and every week but different "extra" things to stop it being repetitive. If I don't have this basic list, I tend to overbuy. Foxholes is right, keep it simple but don't feel bad about the odd super noodle meal! Find out what quick cheap things your son likes (for some unknown reason I love egg beans and chips and even smash for example)
Look at having the Lurgy as a bonus as you won't want to spend loads of money.... ? A hot bath then a hot toddy is the ticket! Poor you :-(January 2016 £5350 in debt:eek:
