Chin up xxx Just read through the thread and YOU ARE DOING BRILLIANTLY

It is hard, and it does feel lonely. My hubby had a mental breakdown after his Grandfather died and we ended up in a lot of debt as he couldn't work. We had to sell the house, massively downsize and dealt with our debts through step change. It is a long hard path BUT we are walking it together!!

I use to look at colleagues who had huge weddings, nice houses and fabulous holidays abroad and think how can they afford it? The truth was they couldn't! They had put it all on credit cards and loans.

Now I try to concentrate on the small pleasure I can get from life, a walk in the winter sunshine, YS bread from the local coop (YUMMY!) and although life is still a struggle financially we are looking forward to being debt free!

Good luck and congratulate yourself for coming so far already
    xxxxx

Thank you I don't really see it that I'm doing well just what a mess I've made

    Hi everyone
Bit of a positive update from me for a change. Trying to concentrate on sticking to a budget and paying my very debt down.
Worked out that because Feb and March are council tax free months but the £81 is budgeted for I have decided to pay that off my very this month and next which means I will only have £21 to find to pay the rest of the bnpl that is only j retest free until April so pleased with that.
It also means that my very account is now standing at £831
    Small victories and all that!

    See here you go Pops

This is a step forward for you.

    You ARE doing OK x

    Your so right Pops

Remember the overall total wasn't accumulated overnight so will take a while to get on top of things.

Very soon you will be under the 30K mark and then you can focus on every £50/£100 at a time. Reducing it on your total every time, even if you pay a pound on something its a pound down ;)

One debt at a time and so on and so on :)

Go and find your least favourite pair of earrings, necklace... Something cheap with jewels or detailing. Got some nail polish, metallic sharpies or paint? Pick your favourite colour. Dab a wee bit on the jewels or lightly brush over the detailing. You can layer coats if you like. Now you are still in debt but you are an artist and have new jewellery! B&ggered it up? Chuck it away, you hated it anyway and you have just decluttered!
Or shove a face pack on (use olive oil if you don't have one) and watch your favourite film.
You need to forget the debt for a few hours and just enjoy being YOU.

Congratulations Popstess you are beginning to think how the rest of us think. Just start with one debt pay that off and move on to the next. The feeling you get as you pay off the debt is fantastic. Not wanting to wish your life away but this time next year you could be advising a newbie on their DF journey.xx
