You are 100% correct that's why I'm panicking :eek::eek::eek:0 -
To use another analogy, remember that in, say, a motor race, it's easy to go zooming in to the first corner, but, that runs the risk of being off line, running wide and so on, and almost always the driver who's been a little more conservative will be able to get on the gas and pull away on the straight because they weren't "fighting the corner!"
Sure and steady versus full steam ahead sometimes
You've now identified your available "Spends" and so it's easy now to divide this by weeks or days until next payday, giving you a total "available" however you want to calculate it.
If you're still waiting on your Tesco account stuff, one suggestion I would make is this: to begin with, "Work in halfs" - which is to say, you have identified £470 and that is what you have to work with. Since it's a few seconds on online banking to get the transfer done manually anyway, once you have the Tesco up and running (Do a "Test" transfer of a quid or two just to make sure you have the details correct!) - transfer HALF of the £470. That means you can then start on "Half months" initially, so you can still see how you're going - but with the benefit that until you've streamlined things you a) have half the £470 still to come across, and b) it's allowing a little manoeuvre for the first month or two in the main account in that you'll be sure the figures are working out.
That is a superb idea!! Thank you, I love this forum so much!
All the fab advice and support is amazing it's keeping me from melting into a pool of my own tears0 -

keep it up and It will become a way of life and your debt free day will come knocking on your door.
I am going to look at organising myself a £1 a day pot. Good advice from elfy.
Can't wait to be debt free
Oh what's the £1 a day pot for?0 -
I have set up a standing order from my main account every Friday for £7 into my EF account = £1 per day. It will help to build it quicker.
Advice given from someone on here today. I think its the person who saves 20p a day also. I can only try and see how it goes.

Ah right I see!! I'm doing the 20p a day one for now it's all I can afford at the min but as my debt goes down I will hopefully be able to start pay in more into my EF0
-
And the debt WILL come down with hard work and discipline. Its gets overwhelming at times doesnt it? but every little helps eh. Ive joined the EF challenge and have been given an official members number 147 :T
OH wants to go to the dogs tomorrow night and already I'm working out how we will pay. We only ever bet 50p and £1 so it wont be too drastic.
We don't go out very often. I think you need some relaxation time sometimes or your whole life is taken over by debt.SP 9#531=£620/SP 10 # 531=?PDBX 2016 #2 = £16,766.67/£12,000

Yeah, I do both the 20p and £1 per day pots
My 20p pot currently has no purpose. I just started saving it away. I might turn it into a braces fund. However at 20p per day, it will take 54 years 10 months 1 week and 3 days to save enough :rotfl:
But hey. It's a start.
The £1 per day pot is for presents so I'm not trying to find extra money in November/December to pay for Christmas.
I'm pleased I've inspired you both to start your own little pots. It's not a huge amount per day, so won't get you anywhere too quick, but it's more than you would have had. Proud of you both! Keep up the brilliant work.
And pops, you are braver than me doing a carboot at this time of year! Good luck!Debts (as of 28/10/15)

Hi elfy and Thank you
I have learned so much on here its amazing. I just wish I had discovered it sooner.
However small amounts we all make it will all add up in the end. :j
I am challenging myself to see just how well I can do with all the little targets I have set myself..
I aim to reach small goals and then move forward to the next and the next and the next and so on.
Good on you pops just remember your thermals tomorrow and plenty of warm drinks :coffee:. Lets hope the sun shines for you.SP 9#531=£620/SP 10 # 531=?PDBX 2016 #2 = £16,766.67/£12,000
