Just wanted to report after a stressful night with my pre teen, homework stresses!!! I had planned to prepare a chilli con carne to go in the slow cooker in the morning for tomorrow's tea and then I started talking myself out of it, it was late I was tired I had a stressful evening etc etc, but my concience starting pricking and I thought no you have bought the ingredients and you are working late tomorrow so if you don't prep it the ingredients will go to waste and you'll end up buying a takeaway or eating rubbish for tea tomorrow. Soooooo.... I decided to play a little game with myself and time how long it took to prep it. Can you believe it took me 6 minutes to prepare a decent tasty meal that will hopefully do 4 meals maybe even 5! 6 minutes! No excuses at all!!! It's in the fridge so all I have to do in the morning is take the dish out of the fridge pop it in the slow cooker switch it on that will take less than a minute and when I get home from work I'll have a lovely home cooked meal :)

Then being the saddo that I am I decided to go and add up how much all the ingredients cost to make it £4.26 for 4/5 meals so less than a pound per meal for less than 7 mins work.

Woop chuffed with myself when I break it all down like that I can see the worth in it all.
Sorry for the wrong rambly post

At 11 o'clock last night you would have found me in the kitchen making 5 pasties for lunchboxes, as I realised my 4 had eaten all the bread when they made toast for a snack after school.

Good job I checked as I would not have been making pastry at 6am. And I did not need to go to the shops for any additional spends.

Baked fresh this morning. All happy and off to work and school.

Well done, many would have caved used it as an excuse to have take-out. :j

Pre-teen homework is nasty. You have my sympathy. Until Sunday, then I need all my own sympathy for myself. :rotfl:

f0xh0les - well done on making pasties at that time of night! As you say good job you checked on the bread situation.

How old are your children? If they are at school I would have thought that at least one of them might have told you that there was no bread left!
