So the same as BA. I know which I'd choose, and it wouldn't be Virgin.

You'll be telling us that BA actually have some respect for their passengers next.
  • There are many reasons why I'd choose BA over Virgin, the main one being reliability. With 10 flights a day between New York (JFK & Newark) and London (Gatwick & Heathrow), with extra BA services to Paris and Brussells, any hint of disruption and you've immediately got options. Add to that the risk of diversion due to delays landing in London - particularly at this time of year with inclement weather - and BA win hands-down with shorthaul flights from Glasgow, Edinburgh, Newcastle and Manchester; all places you are likely to end up. Virgin would be left scrabbling around trying to buy any empty seats whilst BA fill their own flights with their own disrupted passengers. After a night flight across the Atlantic, all you want is to get home and I would suggest you stand a far better chance with BA than ANY other airline between New York and London.

I can handle a surly BA stewardess (and Virgin have their fair share) because that's not what I'm paying for; I'm paying good money to get from A to B with the least amount of fuss, and when things do go wrong I'm paying for backup options to get me home.

T5 is amazing - a whole new World compared to Virgin's home T3 and BA have their own superb terminal at JFK as well. Quite frankly, it's a no-brainer.

£335 a flight isn't what i call cheap.... June can be more expensive, but also you might grab a bargain... also bear in mind the weather in NYC can be awfully hot, and humid, and unbearable..

    M

what should i be looking for in june as AA are a little dearer than BA and i have searched high and low and these are flights that are mid day landing in new york and mid morning return.

and i have to go in june as i cant avoid when my misses 40th birthday is.

can you suggest any other options

and im going to the hotel section now as i have got a few questions regarding hotels as i have quite a good budget on hotels due to the fact of budgeting on £500 per flight

Just managed to get non-stop flights for May from LHR to JFK for £240 each with American Airlines. I went via AA's own website as this was the cheapest way in the end after doing a few different searches.
  • HELP!!
I need to book a one way flight to any New York airport from Glasgow, Edinburgh or London, for the 29th or 30th March...
Aer Lingus looks like the cheapest, and Continental are the cheapest for a direct flight (although still very expensive for a single flight)

Anybody know of any bargains under £300 out there?
ALSO anybody got any website PROMOTIONAL or DISCOUNT CODES???- do they actually exist?!

    Any help very appreciated!

... and end up being billed for the true cost of a single ticket.

    Not advisable.

    Don't be so silly
For a one off it isn't going to happen. Yes if you do it on a regular basis sooner or later it'll flag.
Stop trying to scare (rip people off) people with nonsense that the airlines put about to increase revenue ....... or do you work for an airline ?

Of course if you're right I'm sure this thread will be inundated with posters this has happened to ........ but I'm not going to hold my breath :)

EDIT Just reviewed some of your past posts-all is now clear -self appointed net cop !

    Thanks for the info.
This might sounds like a silly question... but can it actually be cheaper to buy a return flight instead of a one way???
The £256 Continental direct flight sounds ideal duchy- but i can't seem to find that price on the Continental.com website? Could you post a link?

Unless you have a return or exit ticket from the USA would they let you in through immigration unless you had a USA passport of course ?
