Cheap Flights to New York

Hi, I've just been reading through the latest posts and I am amazed at the prices people are finding. We've been looking at all the £500ish quotes on momondo and expedia. I'd be grateful for any help.
My daughter aged 15 is flying out to friends on July 5th - accompanied by two other adults. The other two adults are returning about a week later.
One adult and child flying out in August - returning with original daughter so 1 adult and two children.
I know it's a bit complicated but we are reasonably flexible regarding dates.
Flying from either Heathrow or Gatwick to any of the NY airports.
Grateful for any help as I'm getting a bit of a headache now!0 -

so, splitting this down to make it a bit easier...
flight 1 - age 15, flying out 5th july, returning sometime in august
flight 2 - 2 adults - flying out 5th july returning 19th july
flight 3 - 1 adult 1 child, flying out august, returning august..
now, i always swear by my three month rule, so i'd start looking in april onwards for flights, the 15 year old will be classed as an adult probably etc etc etc, but really, for a direct flight from london airports, £275 should be your target price per flight..
sorry i can't help any more, its just a guess at this point and depends on what flights are available nearer to the time..0 -
Hopefully someone can help me out with this one. I'm looking to book flights from Manchester to New York in the first week of July.
We can depart on any day from 1st July to 7th July and are looking to stay for 4/ 5 nights. Although our preferred departure dates are the 5/ 6th July, as we realise that 4th July is American Independence Day and is likely to cause the cost of flights and hotels to rise. The flight prices that are being quoted on a few websites are around £460 for return flights. I'm going to assume that this overpriced because I've noticed people acquiring flights for much cheaper. Are these prices likely to drop over the next couple of months?0 -
i feel like i'm a broken record.. i keep repeating myself

how many days you staying? that helps.
i've guessed you'll be staying for 4 or 5 nights, so here are some results from my searches..
Tue 18 Mar 2008 to Sun 23 Mar 2008 (Trip length: 5 days)
Continental - £264 - Direct Flight - (on my rating that is a 4* Flight!!)
Book that, £250 is a target price, and thats only slightly more, i really thinkthats one of the best you're going to get... the prices will creep up in the next week or so...0 -
Thanks Markymoo. Your guide contained some very useful information!0

Check DELTA for cheap flights people... i've just noticed that they are offering some flights in March for the price of £230 direct from Gatwick..
ok.. its not as good as the £150 offers they were doing earlier, but £230 is a GREAT price for a direct flight..
(i searched for the 5th - 11th march, on https://www.delta.com)0 -
Been thinking about it overnight and decided to go for it. Just been to Expedia to book flights from Heathrow to Boston in October with BA. Flights yesterday £259 today £400+. I'm very sad !0
