Hiyas, all. Just came across this list of "freebies" for NYC - dunno how recent/up-to-date it is, but thought those who're heading to the Big A might gets some ideas:

HERE's the web page, which lists:

Top 10 Freebies Top 10 Freebies RSS

    By Erin Behan, Senior Editor

    The Top 10
    1. Alligator Lounge

    600 Metropolitan Ave, Brooklyn, NY
It's not a "croc"--the pizza really is on the house at this island-themed neighborhood bar.

    The Scene
Pink flamingoes and swimsuit-clad mannequins jut from the walls at this pizzeria-cabana club-sports bar. Either the Alligator Lounge's identity crisis is expanding its clientele or word has gotten out about the complimentary brick-oven pizza with every drink. Free food is the great equalizer for a friendly mixed crew of artists in paint-stained overalls, local ladies shrink-wrapped in tube tops and tight jeans, and neighborhood dads in baseball jackets.

    The Draw
Though the pies are free, the toppings will cost you ($2 for the first, $1 for each additional), but the pepperoni and caramelized onions are hard to resist. Groups crowd into booths and wash down slices with well-priced pitchers of Guinness and Stella or get more beer for their buck with pitchers of Rheingold. Regulars shoot pool and watch sports at the bar, and an easygoing rock jukebox--spanning from Steely Dan to the Shins--aids the digestive process.

    2. Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre
    307 W 26th St, New York, NY
You'll need to get in line early for the free Sunday 9:30pm showing of the hilariously popular Asssscat 3000.
NB: The website says: "Hump Night is every wednesday at 11pm. This is our stand up night featuring comics from Comedy Central, Tough Crowd with Collin Quinn, The Tonight Show, The Late show, Last Comic Standing and Permium Blend. Hosted by Sean Conroy.
    Reservations:212.366.9176
    info: http://www.ucbtheater.com"

    3. MoMA The Museum of Modern Art
    11 W 53rd St, New York, NY
It's not often that modern art comes for free, but every Friday from 4pm to 8pm, admission is waived.
    NB: MoMA IS FAB!

    4. Toni & Guy
673 Madison Ave Ste 2, New York, NY
A stop by the salon on Fridays at 6pm puts you in the running for a free haircut by the salon's trainees.

    5. Brooklyn Botanic Garden
    1000 Washington Ave, Brooklyn, NY
Make your way to the sprawling gardens on Saturday before noon and admission is free.

    6. Sony Wonder Technology Lab
550 Madison Ave, New York, NY
It's hard to believe that access to the lab's dizzying display of technology is free for all ages, but it's true.

    7. Big Apple Greeter
1 Centre St Ste 19, New York, NY
These free neighborhood tours are run by real New Yorkers; sadly for other New Yorkers, the tours are for tourists only.

    8. Staten Island Ferry at South Ferry Terminal
1 Bay St, Staten Island, NY
Commuters and tourists share spectacular views of the southern tip of Manhattan for free.

    9. Brooklyn Bridge
Manhattan: Park Row, near Municipal Bldg; Brooklyn: Cadman Plaza, New York, NY
Whether biking, blading or walking, another breathtaking way to take in the skyline without "spending a penny". [LOL!]

    10. Sixpoint Craft Ales
40 Van Dyke St, Brooklyn, NY
Get a sudsy taste of Brooklyn at the free, lively Saturday afternoon brewery tours that include a beer.

    Anyone know or use Broadwaybox.com?

    They claim:

    "Broadway Shows Discount Codes

Use these free Broadway discount coupon codes to buy cheap Broadway tickets up to 50% off Broadway ticket prices

BroadwayBox is a community site. No ticket sales. No membership fees. No cost.

We share discount codes distributed by the show producers.

These Broadway theater discount codes provide heavily discounted tickets for the shows of your choice, on your preferred date, in advance, from your home."

Thanks for any feedback you might have! :-)

Oh! HERE's another site for theatre-lovers.... claims to have list of current shows and currently available discounts.

does anyone know when single tickets go on sale for the Yankees?

also has anyone been to either Yankee or Shea stadiums? In understand its the last season baseball will be played at either venue. will probably go to watch the Yankees as theyre the better team but Shea looks pretty cool and wouldnt mind seeing it too if possible.

has anyone used http://www.stubhub.com/ ? Tickets are on sale there already but I might wait till they go on general sale. I will be there early April. any advice appreciated.

some of the MLB teams, their regular season tickets go on sale on the 1st March...

and going to shea stadium.... pah! never! yankees all the way for me.. :D

as for stubhub, well its there, but its a more expensive way of getting tickets, as there are more fees involved, however, if money is no object, you sometimes can get some AMAZING seats.... (at a couple of 1000 dollars)

Thanks Marky. I signed up to the Yankees mailing list so I should get notified when the tickets go on general sale. The less I pay the happier I'll be!!! :D It also means I might get to see the "other" NY team too ;)

NO, don't do it... the only time you're allowed to see the Mets *spit* play, is when its a subway series (world series) and the mets are playing the yankees at yankee stadium... c'mon!!!! haha

well fingers crossed you get notified, personally, i'd get a seat looking out onto first base, but thats personal preference...
