Me and my friend are looking to spend 4 nights in NYC over New Year, possibly 30th to 3rd Jan. Is it best to book sooner rather than later? Who is best to book with?
Thanks0 -
Hey guys,
Im really keen to take a 5 day trip to new york in december of this year, i want to get it booked early so as i have plenty of time to save.
What is the best company to book with??? is it better to go package or book hotel, flights and transfer seperately??? we want to do the whole site seeing thing!!!

Look On Expedia.com, I Priced Some Flights Only To New York, After Reading On Hotdeals, And They Were £259 Each Return Form Manchester. Other Airports Avavilable0

2 questions - same answer
read my guide to booking an NYC holiday for hints, tips, timescales, and hopefully that will help..
on another note ---I recomend the red loop buses aswell.. $49 for 2day hop on hop off pass. takes you to brooklyn, uptown and downtown, with a tour man aswell to go through the info.
this is soooooo expensive, ok you have a tour guide, but the New York Bus / Subway ticket for a week is half this amount, and apart from the tour guide, will take you the same places, and you'll get to meet locals... not my kinda thing tbh...0 -
i loved woodbury commons! they have a lot of very high end shops eg celine, prada, tumi. i got a pair of prada shoes for $80! there were celine suits for about $200 rather than $2000!0

Sorry I previously posted this isn the flights thread by mistake...
Hi All!
Thank you, esp Markymoo for a great thread
I'm looking at NYC for a weekend start of October...to mark my 40th. Problem is we can only really do 3 nights as we have to get back for the kids....looking at the cheap flights that would leave us getting to New York at 2.30pm on a thurs and flying out Sunday afternoon. Question is it worth going all that was and spending 1500 for an evening and 2 full days?
Also I know about the 3 month rule for flights...at the mo they're 310 from Gatwick...and have appear to have got more expensive...should we really risk waiting? :rolleyes:0 -
New York is ace for anyone. Been on a number of occassions and returning again in March with "teens" and hubby for the St Patrick Day Parade.
We always book our flights and hotel separately that way you can really shop around. This time we got our hotel through www.hotels.com and we got a suite at the Waldorf Astoria for five nights at less than half price. It does depend on what deals the hotel is offering at the time of booking though.
Agree with previous notes about Woodbury Common and Century 21. Another tip would be to look into a day trip to Philedephia. Its only a couple of hours on the train and the sales tax is slightly lower so you can get some really good deals. However, I would only suggest this to those that have previously experienced the delights of the Big Apple otherwise it takes too much time out of your trip.:j Member Number 18 of the "100 free films in London in 2010" club:hello:0 -
Bump!!
Is it worth going for 3 nights ie one evening and two full days leaving following pm? Opinions please;)0 -
It really depends what you hope to achieve in that time.
You can get alot done if you stick to an itinerary. Remember that by arriving at 2.30pm New York time on the Thursday you can get stuck straight in by maybe going to the Empire State early evening. As a note alot of the big stores i.e Macys is open til late and then Times Square is always on the go - so there you have it you can achieve three things just on the day you arrive.
On the Friday maybe use the Big Apple Tour bus to travel around. You hop on and off where you want and they take in most of the popular place such as China Town, Little Italy, Greenwich Village etc. They will also take you down to get the ferry for Statue of Liberty etc. In addition, they even do a two hour evening tour which only lets you get off at the Brooklyn Bridge to see the famous skyline but again you will get to see an over view of the city.
It can be done but don't expect too much sleep and certainly don't think it will be relaxing but you can sleep on the plane home.
If you haven't already booked your flights check out times - you may be able to get one going slightly earlier or one back slightly later in the evening. This will at least give you a couple of extra hours.
I know this is long winded but I hope it helps somewhat.:j Member Number 18 of the "100 free films in London in 2010" club:hello:0
