Hey im booking a holiday to new york for 5/6 days from about 3rd/4th april for me and my girlfriend. So far looking on package sites.
Prices i've had are from about £350-£400 but i'm not sure about hotels etc.
This includes "West Side Inn & Hostel" "The Continental Hostel" "Park Avenue Hotel" and "West End Studios & Hostel"
So i'm either wondering if you could possibly find an alternative cheap deal, or tell me if you think any of those hotels/hostels are any good!
Any feedback would be much appreciated!0 -

hi
the boyf & i are off to NY in march (4-10th) for a wedding (in Connecticut), we've not booked our flights yet but its looking like £500-550 not fussy where we fly from in the UK or NY at the mo, but ive just found an American site that is £50 cheaper (here) was just wondering it may seem a silly question BUT can I book with them? also found the Pennsylvania hotel is offering 15% on a three nite stay to make it the cheapest in that area so far!
thanksEVERYBODY MOVE TO THE CLOUDY ROOM, EVERYBODY MOVE!!!

booeyhugh.. have you looked at tripadvisor reviews for the penn hotel? its in about 280th place out of 380 hotels... its not the best...
check out my guide to booking an NY holiday (link on page one of this thread) and also the New York Hotels thread, that blindman posted just above your post0 -
I've had some back feedback about the penn hotel from a colleague recently, but he made a very good point whilst talking about the hotel in his words "but we only spent 6 hours a day there and that was to sleep".
New York will keep you busy from dawn till dusk so its up to you regarding the standard of your hotel, after all id feel sick if i spent a few thousand on an incredible and hotel and only ever slept in the room. One thing in the penn's favour is location, and for me when staying in new york is one of the most important factors.
all the best

Markymoo, from what I have read you seem to be a bit of a pro at New York so i was wondering if you could cast your eye over a deal ive found. Im traveling to new york and will be there from 24th-29th april, i have found the Hotel Pennsylvania for 5 nights ro for £420 (ive already booked my flights for £150 each return from man-jfk), what do you think of that deal? i didnt think it was too bad, dont know whether to book it or wait until nearer the time as this hotel seems to be around the £300 mark for 5 nights in feb??? Im even thinking of using priceline as the 4* deals for £70 per night (when you can bid and win on them are fab)
any suggestions please would be grateful
Where did you get that flight? That's a sensational price especially if it's direct. Are you sure you're not gonna be towed behind the plane in a trailer?:T0 -
i got the deal when delta made a mess with the pricing of the flights and so got it cheap, the same flights now are £315pp0

yeaH.. I booked my flights at the same price.. it was wednesday last week that they appeared... the prices were on for 24 hours i think, and then they disappeared...0

IMHO, the location of the Penn Hotel is awful... on 2 really busy streets, penn station is right opposite, and it is busy 24/7, there isn't any "nice" restaurants or bars nearby, as they are all chain places, and the bars are overpriced, even for NYC...
just my opinion though0 -
We stayed at the Penn last Jan. It was nice enough and I didn't find the noise to be a problem at all. I would advise anyone that is booking a room there asks for a renovated room though as apparantly they are a lot better and on the top floors of the hotel so may explain why it was pretty quiet.0
