    Shame on you :D

Some good bargains to be had if Priceline or Hotwire suite your plans.

they don't do my hotel that i stay at, and anything else is proabably a bit too expensive for me, and i wouldn't use half the facilities.. the cosmopolitan hotel is perfect for what i need, and a good price!

Hi Markymoo, and other NY Experts!

Do you think its worth buying a citypass for NY here before I go... Its £48/per adult on Expedia for a 2 day pass and gives entry to:

    Museum of Modern Art
    Empire State Building Observation Deck
    American Museum of Natural History
    Madame Tussauds New York
Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island Immigration Museum
    United Nations Tour
    Bronx Zoo
    Solomon R Guggenheim Museum

Or are the prices 'on the door' similar?

Also - has anyone seen a show in NY? and is it worth booking tickets in advance ?

    Thanks once again...

    Honeypie

Looking the markymoos prices i doubt you would get your moneys worth, id personally wait till im in new york

ok.. i've searched.. i can't beat that.. its a good price considering they aren't even staying a saturday night!!!
    book it...

It seems I have wasted hours on the Thomson site, the prices quoted were totally out and I was not able to book online and after several phone calls to their booking line it appears the website was very wrong:cool: I am now starting again trying to book a 3* hotel for 2 for 3 nights including flights for 13th Feb to 16th Feb 2008 from London. I am now looking at http://www.dreamusa.co.uk/holidays/builder/search.php?cID=1271&outd=13&outm=2008%2F02&cityfrom=LON&days=3&adult=2&child=0&air=656&obs=false

    Any suggestions welcome:confused:

saveit.. you're not going to get bargain prices because you are not staying on a saturday night!!! the airfares are done that way, change your dates, 14th - 17th, and your price will plummet.. slightly

I used www.newyorkpass.com before I went in November.

Just checking now the prices have shot up, the 2 days one is £50.

Mine was 7 days for $120 so £60 on the Nationwide Credit Card.

The list of stuff on this thread for this other card are quite far apart so you may not get around them all.

I was very happy with mine and other people in the group wished they had got one but for 2 days this one is probably not worth it.

Museum of Modern Art (5th Ave maybe didn't go in here as i ran out of time)

Empire State Building Observation Deck (doesn't take long and the pass may give you queue jump)

American Museum of Natural History - 81st St, no where near the others

Madame Tussauds New York (takes quite a while to get around)

Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island Immigration Museum (to do the statue and the museum involves 3 boat ride and lots of queuing to get on the 1st boat.

United Nations Tour - this was shut when we were down there (thanksgiving) but again seemed far away from other stuff)

Bronx Zoo - was ok but not expensive to get in, closest to MOMA

Solomon R Guggenheim Museum - the other side of central park to history musuem and "high" up.

On balance if I was going to get a pass I would use the same one again. The list of attractions is larger for your £50 and you get free money $10 a day in Planet Hollywood, a guide book and other discounts.

    Hope this helps

why i'd want $10 to spend in planet hollywood is beyond me... there is so much more to new york..

and i'm sure that UN is nearer to MOMA, than MOMA is to the bronx zoo..

Free $10 T-Shirts, nip in get one, get out. Xmas Pressie Done.

Sorry about the Zoo one, of course it will be. I was thinking Central Park Zoo.

Makes it even more unlikely that someone in NY for 2 days would go out there whilst trying to visit all the stuff on that list.

The card is stacked in the issuers favour.

Does anyone have any information on getting cheap flights when coming from Ireland?

My brother is getting married on 7th June and I am starting to look at my options.

Aer Fungus are currently looking for around €650. The best bet for me might be to go to Paris with Air France first, which works out at about €500.

I can travel with Continental to Newark from Belfast for a similar price to Aer Lingus.

I am happy to fly from Belfast but would obviously not fly via Paris / Amsterdam / Frankfurt.

    Anyone any ideas?

Im just back from NYC and booked the budget hotel 'Milford Plaza' for 5 nights - it was so cheap, right at Times Sq and clean - was perfect for us.
