Affinia Dumont, 1st April until 7th April, booked with ebookers.co.uk
I have double and triple checked the booking form, and the website and it doesn't say anything about taxes.
i've had a look, and there are 3 lines on the booking - see the image in my previous post..
there are 2 links though... taxes and fees - this readsHOTEL TAXES AND FEES
This website allows you to compare and purchase a variety of travel products from our suppliers. We are not the provider of the products that you purchase and we do not collect or remit taxes to taxing authorities. Our suppliers require us to pay amounts for the taxes and other government fees that they must pay to taxing authorities. In order to recover these amounts, we add a charge to your bill as displayed here and included in the total cost shown. The charge covers any taxes and government fees applicable to the travel products you have purchased.
then, if you have a line Local charges may additionally apply (e.g. city tax)
and this link saysRETAIL HOTELS: LOCAL CHARGES, TAXES AND FEES
Customers should note that there may be charges levied abroad but not paid at the point of purchase that are payable in relation to this booking, e.g. occupancy charges, city tax etc. Any such local charges will be payable by the customer directly to the hotel at the time of check-in/check-out. Exchange rates used to calculate the estimated cost of this trip are correct at the time of reservation but may vary.
because they are charging you for taxes and fees, i think you have already paid them.0 -
Thank you, you have settled my mind a bit. Had another panic last night when I checked seatguru for where I was sitting and found it was in a row without a window. So, i rang and they changed my seats again - yay! Virgin were quite understanding, so they get a thumbs up for that.
I think I will just panic daily over something, it seems to be my way - lol.
Now trying to organise a trip to the shopping village, looks like there is a bus which leaves from near our hotel which seems good.0 -
*shakes head* a day trip just to go shopping to save the tax... *keeps shaking head*0

markymoo, sorry to be confusing, I meant 1 room with 2 beds to get a bigger room. No one else seems to do them as far as I can see except hotel connxtions.
lady S, you go shopping!! Bus leaves Port Authority for Woodbury Common, we wished we had gone there first last time and will make it our first visit this time before hitting the rest of the shops in NY. It's the choice of shops they have all in one area. We still never got to all of them though. South street seaport has some nice shops too, plus the TKTS booth there is more flexible than Times Square as markymoo has already mentioned.0 -

Christa is on my vibe!
Awful as it sounds I hope that this is a once in a lifetime thing, so I want to do pretty much everything we want to. Although, who knows what we will miss. Really need to get my itinery down.0 -
Just a note on the transportation from JFK. It's generally *not* cheaper to take a cab. The flat rate when we were there this summer was $45 (and you generally leave a tip in addition). Taking the AirTran and then the A train is only $7. Going on the LIRR (which is faster) is $12.
New York's a wonderful place to visit. I've had really good luck booking hotels with Hotwire. We also had some pals who stayed at The Pod (I swear, that's what it's called) and really dug it. It was beautiful inside! Some of the rooms have shared baths, though.Pick battles big enough to matter, small enough to win. - Jonathan Kozol0 -
We were in NY last Easter for 10 days and thought too this was a once in a life time trip, though there was so much that we didn't get to do, so we are off again this Easter this time for 8 days, just my daughter and me. You think it might be a once in a lifetime , but once you are back you start thinking,'when can I go again!!0

I am travelling to New York in April after going to Vegas on the way for a wedding. I have found flights for the whole package for £400 which i think is great but just wondered if i was best to book the hotels and flight seperate or try to negotiate an overall price as a package? Looking at 7 nights Vegas and 4 nights New York.
Also do you think the rates for flights i have seen are promotional and are likely to go up? In other words should i book as a soon as?0 -
i'm unclear what your £400 is buying you.. i that buying you flights to vegas, a hotel in vegas, flights to new york, and then a hotel in new york, and then flights home? cos if it is, i want to book that now!!!!
can you tell us what that £400 actually gives you, and then i can see if it is a bargain or not0 -
Sorry, the £400 is for flights only. MAnchester to Vegas (change in Chicago) then Vegas to New York and finally New York to Manchester.0
