No, that may be a gopher. See gofer in Wikipedia, as in one instructed to go for coffee, chocolate etc.

Does anyone know what the average cost would be at a tickets booth at South St Seaport for a Broadway show...something like Mamma Mia ?
Thanks to Phatbear the thread above lists them at $71 which is about £43....is that a good deal for a Broadway show...is it unfair comparing them to London ticket booths that do We Will Rock you for £20?
I am just trying to work out better to get them now or wait....
    Hi,
As it happens, we actually saw Mama Mia in New York last December with tickets bought from the SSS booth. Of course, last year we were getting just over $2 for our £ which made our tickets approx £30. We had a lovely evening and the show was brill. Whe I asked the Booking Agent where the seats would be, he said they were on 1st Mezzanine (Balcony to you and me) and in the middle. Seats not exactly where he said, but still a good view and excellent value. Hoping to see the Rockettes this year at Radio City and searching for a bargain. Sally

  • This hotel https://res.heraldsquarehotel.com/WebResv.aspx?PropertyRowID=1&HotelID=1&MenuRowID=47 is not too bad. My boyf stayed there a few years ago, it seems a bit cheaper and has okayish reviews on tripadvisor so tempted. Its very much a get what you pay for room!
Saying that though, with the exchange rate being what it is there isnt much difference in price!
  • On the subject of the exchange being the way it is, im considering waiting another month before booking a hotel (we are going in Jan and have flights already), what are other people doing? x
  • Ive got 10 days left then I'm off to NYC. Cant wait.

Staying in the Pod Hotel and have all my days planned out - I've been lurking on here picking up tips so wanted to thank everyone for helping in a non direct way :D

  • Hello all,
A few pages back someone was asking about cheap hostel hotels in NY. I stayed at The Chelsea Star a year ago and it was great ~ basic but clean, friendly and in a great location. It might be worth checking it out if you are on a tight budget. http://starhotelny.com/index.php
I am off to NY later today and because this is a big celebration for me I am staying in style this time, but wouldn't hesitate to go back to The Chelsea Star on another occasion. :T

  • Hi all. My wife and i are going to NY on Nov 4th. I applied to Good Morning America to be in their audience, and i got a reply yesterday to say i've been accepted. We have to be in the queue at 6 15 am for the program starting at 7 and finishing at 9. Problem is though is that i've booked a Harlem tour through a tour operator and we have to be at the pick up point at 9.15. Has anyone here done Good Morning America and can tell me if you are allowed out before 9am. If not were not going to be able to do it. Thanks in advance, Col.

High, my daughter and I are going to NY on 8th November, for 3 nights staying near Times Sq/Broadway.

This site has been very helpful in planning, but I have a couple of specific things:

We want to see the New York Skyline from the river at night - what is the best way of doing this?

We would like to visit locations used in the Friends Sitcom - is this possible, and can anyone tell me where they are?

Are the helicopter rides worth it, and are they best booked in UK or in NY?

    Thanks
  • Take the Staten Island Ferry at night - although you only see lower Manhattan from it. Or walk over the Brooklyn Bridge at night.

Personally I think the helicopter rides are too expensive, but I've never been on one, I'm sure they're a good experience.
