Thanks to everyone who has posted advice about NYC. I have been reading posts for months and I'm going to Hotel Cosmo this sunday (first visit to NYC) and going through some old threads noticed something about not having a cup of tea in bed. Does this mean no brewing up facilities in the room because I really need my cup of tea before going to bed. Should I take my travel kettle?

you can if you absolutely must.... or you can just nip to Dunkin Donuts, on the corner of Church and Chambers (1 block away) and get a cup of tea from there, and wander back to the hotel with it... That's what i did when i was desperate for a cuppa!

If there were brewing facilities, we didn't find them. First morning I sent DH out in search of tea, particularly Redbush tea which is what I drink. He was gone forever and came back with coffee, having tried several places including one which everyone else said sold every kind of tea under the sun!

After that I didn't bother, and we survived until everyone was up and ready for breakfast. Crabby without my tea, me? :rotfl:

I must say the Soda Shop served an EXCELLENT breakfast, which kept us going long past lunchtime!

I totally agree with PhatBear much preffered the Rock to ESB. I also went at sunset and it was beautiful. Thought the ESB was too expensive, too busy and too overhyped.

Obv you need to go on the statten Island Ferry!

  • Has anyone ever been to a gig in Madison Square Garden? Saw the Knicks there a few years ago and thought it was a great arena even though I was way up in the nosebleeds. I'm tempted to try and get Kings of Leon tickets for January '09 but wondering if the view from the top tier seats would be good enough given the different layout?

I know even less than markymoo, and I'd say whether to book now or later depends on lots of things like whether you LIKE to have things 'sorted' earlier at the possible expense of a better bargain, whether you have and will keep any flexibility on those dates, and things like that.

i am VERY much a person who likes to have things sorted! comes from being a boring accountant i think!

thanks for the advice people, i think i'll try and hold out a little while longer....tho i think i'm starting to drive my boyfriend mad talking about flights all day long!

The thread goes back along time and some of the info may be out of date.

Plus i have a flight and hotel booked and i am not hiring a car.

doubtful... a lot of the info in this thread is very useful.... if someone were to go out of date.. like NYC not existing... it would me mentioned here.. !

Does anyone know what the average cost would be at a tickets booth at South St Seaport for a Broadway show...something like Mamma Mia ?
Thanks to Phatbear the thread above lists them at $71 which is about £43....is that a good deal for a Broadway show...is it unfair comparing them to London ticket booths that do We Will Rock you for £20?
I am just trying to work out better to get them now or wait....
