I know even less than markymoo, and I'd say whether to book now or later depends on lots of things like whether you LIKE to have things 'sorted' earlier at the possible expense of a better bargain, whether you have and will keep any flexibility on those dates, and things like that.
Personally I was stressed out in the run up to our holiday, because so many things WEREN'T sorted. As things fell into place I became a little calmer. I know my experience was based on deciding to go to the USA at much shorter notice than you, AND having to wait and wait and wait while a gaggle of geeks arranged and re-arranged a 'meet' 'somewhere' 'sometime' in the USA.
But once I've decided I'm going, I do like to get things booked!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Hi all, I am going to NYC tomorrow and wanted some advice regarding NYC tours such as the Empire State building and Sex and the city (for the GF).
Also what are the best decent size restaurants.
Also there are four of us, would hiring a private limo be cheaper than a taxi from JFK to Midtown manhattan?0 -
The thread goes back along time and some of the info may be out of date.
Plus i have a flight and hotel booked and i am not hiring a car.0 -
Oh, someone has deleted tghe post i replied too.0

Without reading through the whole thread, will dip into it again when time is a plenty, i am looking for some info on theatre tickets.
Want to see a show on broadway and just wondered if cheaper to book online before we go or from one of the discount stands when we get there.
The dollar is so scarey today. Glad to have already sorted some cash.0 -
Help on my above queries would be greatly appreciated.0

Thanks to everyone who has posted advice about NYC. I have been reading posts for months and I'm going to Hotel Cosmo this sunday (first visit to NYC) and going through some old threads noticed something about not having a cup of tea in bed. Does this mean no brewing up facilities in the room because I really need my cup of tea before going to bed. Should I take my travel kettle?0

Buy your tickets, and print em out before you go, from:
http://www.broadwaybox.com/
you can of course wait till you get there and q at the tkts booths but the q's can be long and there is no guarantee that they will have tickets to the show you want to see.
Got top banana spamalot tickets when I went last time and they were half the cover price through broadwaybox
all the best

This is purely personal preference but I wouldnt bother with esb i would go up top of the rock.
esb is more expensive more crowded and the ushers are notoriously surly.
If you go up top of the rock the view is more the stereotypical view of manhattan and a couple of things you will see at tor that you wont see up esb is central park and the esb itself, i try and time my arrival for about 30mins before sunset and you can watch the sun set over manhattan and the island light up, its quite a sight to see, and of course as previously mentioned you get to see esb lit up.
all the best
