Hi all, im looking to go nyc on monday 10th Aug for 4 nights (2 adults). Im really struggling to find somewhere decent to stay that doesn't cost a fortune.

Im looking to early for the good deals or could anyone recommend anywhere.

After somewhere in a good location and clean/comfortable rooms, ideally not more than £125 per night if possible.

    Thanks

Nope you cant add another discount card on top of the one that macys/bloomies give you for being an out of towner, and also, and i know its pedantic, but the discount cards are 11% not 10%.

Be aware that the card will not be accepted in all sections of the shop, ie you cant purchase make up etc and get 11% and certain outlets dont accept it eitherm however they will tell you when you get your card who will and wont accept the discount. If an item is already discounted on the rack then you will still get a further 11% off the price too.

Personally I was never over impressed with bloomies and found their goods far more expensive than macys, and the their staff are snotty beyond belief, however I guess you have to go for their "little brown bags", well that was the excuse Mrs Phatbear used to drag me back the shop on the last occasion.

My vote would be for the hotel grand union, we stayed there on our last trip and it had some major plus points:

    2 blocks from esb
on the same block as a subway staion which went right down manhattan
    close to all the "sights"
    cheap as chips
    clean rooms

of course there were some downsides like:

    no safe in the room
the room we had didnt have a view however the upside was no traffic noise
only 1 lift to service the whole hotel, however its a small hotel so its not a major prob
at the end of the stay pushy owners trying to sell you their rides to the airport

its far from 4 star but if you truly enjoy new york the only time you will see your room is for sleeping and dumping shopping off etc.

Thanks for that. Nope that extra 1% is a few more dollars, even better!

what kinda music do you want???

check https://www.pollstar.com for gig listings.... or just go down to the east village and find something there...
if there are 4 of you, i wouldn't worry too much.. if you were on your own, then yeah, there would be some places that are slightly dubious... i'm only 29, so my taste in music may be different to yours... gimme some ideas of what you want, and i'll see if i can point you in the right direction
