showing your age there..... and i can honestly say, i've never been to a concert in central park..

True, acushla, but it looks divine on me! :p Like the best wines, I indulge myself in the illusion of being GRAND cru, VSOP (enough of the old, already - lol tho' anyone living through this summer in Scotland can't help but be pale) and, de qualit! superieure, of course!

mercury lounge, irving plaza (blender), bowery ballroom, arlenes grocery, radio city music hall... thems the places i've been to see concerts in NYC

I've also walked on the wild side - with one or tWo hair-raising escapades that are funny now, but at the time induced bucket-loads of adrenaline...

How lucky you are to be too far away for a nip and a natter, Marky! that is unless you enjoy a blether...

Wow! I love S&G and I love New York.........I hate you. :D

    lol!

I'm old enough, as marky so kindly pointed out :p , to have grown up listening to S&G and it was almost freakish coincidence that I was able to be in the park on that day, better still, my pals and I were able to see the stage. :D

Small wonder you're so adorable, Marky! Young, inexperienced, a relative NYC neophyte... And spells and counts! :j Ok, Lou, who'll be first to start rubbing her hands in glee....:D Since you didn't get to see S&G, I'll graciously give you first dibs :p

Hi Louby Lou. I'm off to new york for 5 nights early november and have purchased the 7 day new york pass. I got it for $135, the lowest it will go is $132. They change the offer all the time so wait for $30 off or 20% off before you buy it.
Whether its value for money is purely dependant on you, and how many of the attractions you are hoping to do whilst you're there. I made a list of the ones i will 100% definately do, then some if we get the time, and others if we're passing and fancy it. For me i should use about $150 worth of attractions so i thought it was a good idea, especially as i won't need to budget for ticket prices on the door, and queue up for tickets. Also, with the pass you get a few discounts. The ones i'll be using are $10 credit at planet hollywood each day(wont use it everyday, just when passing), 15% off the bus ticket to woodbury common outlet and bogof at the ice skating in central park. The main draw for me though was having it all paid for before i go. I will be picking it up on the first night from planet hollywood. The only attraction not included with this pass that i want to do is the top of the rock, which is only $12 anyway.

Has anyone else brought the New York pass and recomend it? Any tips on the cheapest place to get it?

    Ta muchly

On our last trip I pre-booked tickets to spamalot via:

    http://www.broadwaybox.com/

you pay for the tickets and they send you an e-ticket within 24hours which you just print out and take to the theatre with you.

I done some checking prior to booking and broadway box have some great feedback and I cant fault their service.

I can highly recommend spamalot for a couple of hours of hilarity, mind you im a python fan however mrs phatbear isnt and she really enjoyed it too I even had her singing always look on the bright side of life at the end, other people have highly recommended ave Q as well for a chortle.

You could wait until you get there and pop along to a Tkts booths however they can get busy and there are no guarantees that they will have tickets to the show you want.

    all the best

Thanks again, mon cher grizzly... Just wanted to add/share this site: TIME OUT NYC which may be of use/interest for other potential theatre-goers.

  • Hey everyone. Looking to book flights for next summer to NY for my honeymoon. In the current climate have been advised (by an American!) not to go with any American carriers. Have found return flights with BA for the two of us for £1050. Is this a good price or should I bide my time?
    Thanks for any help...
