Try Aer Lingus from Dublin. It is only about the same as us going to the Canaries from there and the Americans do their customs this end so it is easier when you get there

when i went september last year, it was hot hot hot.... i wandered around in shorts, and go in everywhere i wanted... again. no posh eatieries, just bar restaurants...
if you've booked a table, you will probably need to wear Jeans.. check opentable.com for restaurants, and it gives you a dress code there..

Well, here we in London with the in-laws. Have now booked an exclusive SuperShuttle to get to the Cosmopolitan, $120+ including tips. (It's saying 18% as the default, is that right these days? I thought 15% normally?)
And sorted the car hire for when we leave NY for somewhere else: Hertz with Nectar points from North White Plains, returning car at no extra charge to JFK. Oh, and question there or I'll phone Hertz: BIL says they might swipe our credit card and max it out for the duration of the hire - does that still happen?
Thank you hammy and marky.
It's all going very well so far: the older two boys caught the train to London yesterday and we wedged the youngest into the car with four suitcases, five sleeping bags, a large bag and assorted rucksacks. 40 miles up the M4 and I said to DH "You HAVE got your driving licence, haven't you?" A few fumblings later and we established that no, he did not have his driving licence, nor did he have his Nationwide or Post Office credit cards, and it was all MY fault, because he had to take them out of his fleece so I could wash it, and he put his wallet into his other coat, and there it still was, with the other coat hanging up at home. :rotfl:(You have to laugh or you'd cry ...)
I declined to turn around, because I usually do all the foreign driving anyway (see previous posts about what a dreadful passenger I am!) and I had a PO credit card and DS1 his Nationwide card. We now have a cunning plan which involves DS1 catching a train back home this afternoon to go to a friend's flatwarming party, another friend going to our house to pick up the wallet from the friend we share our house with, and DS1 promising faithfully not to come back here a) too late b) too drunk c) without the wallet.
What can possibly go wrong? :rotfl:Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

I forgot to mention that the cunning plan also involves a late night drive to Paddington to collect him, because I don't feel particularly happy at him catching tube / trains at that time of night with all DH's credit cards in his pocket, and BIL said he'd drive up to meet him because a taxi would cost an arm and a leg. DS1 was completely unworried at the thought of being mugged: "It's not as if I know his PINs." "And you think that a mugger would believe it was your Dad's wallet?"
I've also lost one of our TSA padlocks: I had one attached to each suitcase but not actually locking them, IYSWIM. I went to padlock them all, and one of them has jumped off the zip fastener and vanished into thin air. That is not something I'm losing sleep over.
Oh, and the son with waist length hair has failed to bring a comb, so he's had to borrow one of my pink ones! :rotfl:
Back on topic, this time tomorrow we'll nearly be there! ie in New York! I think I'm getting excited ...
If I'd thought about it earlier, I'd have packed a set of my clothes in each case. That way, as long as ONE case arrived, I'd be OK, and they can share clothes if they have to. But as we're NOT flying out of Heathrow I guess I should be OK, and I'm not opening our suitcase up now because ours is the fullest ... can't think why - oh yes, that would be because it's got two people's clothes in!
Anyway, got a few more things to do tonight ... don't bank on me posting while I'm in NY because I shall have to steal DS1's laptop to do so (this is BIL's). Y'all have a nice 10 days now! :rotfl:Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

Is a Taxi from airport the best rather than shuttle as they would tend to go round the world to drop off people, looked at a limo for the 4 of us but guess this would be costly
