Just looked for the frozen peppers and can't track them down on the Asda page, are they cheaper than fresh ones? What sort of price per weight are they?0

Hello everyone - especially Dbelle!, I am loving this thread!, Its really got me motivated to stop spending so much on shopping. By far the money we spend on shopping is the largest outgoing we have and there is only 2 of us to feed. Just been bargain hunting and bought some Holland and Barrett Soya mince, some lentils and bean type thingies. Got a sausage caserole cooking in my slow cooker made from Lentils and cheap veg off the market and some old sausgages that were lurking in my freezer. Off now to Lidl to see what I an spy! Thanks to all that have posted you have been an inspiration0

Just checked the packets of my frozen. Both were bought from Morrisons (sometimes I use Farmfoods which are good, too).
Mushrooms (500g) = 86p
Mixed peppers (500g) = £1.09
Now my experiences with these over the past year or so is that they often are on promotional prices, not a lot off but a few pence. They seems to last ages, too. I use the peppers fresh in salads or cooked. Great either way.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £58.95/ £250

Dont forget about free food. This is in abundance at the moment. Blackberries, Elderberries, mushrooms etc - you have to know what you are picking though. Eggs make great cheap meals and we incorporate a jacket potato meal into our menus every week. I agree with the bulk pasta and rice meals too. I always buy Asda's cooking peppers. You seem to get about 6 or 7 peppers for the price of 1 loose one.0

Truimph!
Mr did the shopping and it came to £31.70 plus he filled up the car for £5 less than budgeted.
So off to a good start.
The last two weeks are going to be a bit harder as we will have £28.30 for the next shop! So I will get my thinking cap on as I have two weeks
I'm going to see if we can pop to the local country park tomorrow as I'm sure there are plenty of places to pick blackberries there.0 -
:T Well done you!!!0

Haven't read through the whole list but has anyone suggested "pick your own"?
If this is a long term project then it's worth getting some seeds and planting some stuff. if you haven't got a garden then a council allotment will only cost you around 315 for the year.0
