It is 60 for the both of us and one cat!

But I think we will manage it.

Here is the shopping list (Sainsburys came out tops).
I've also had a truimph on the cat food front, Whiska's Oh So Meaty is £1 off in Sainsburys plus I have £1 off voucher from one of Martins newsletters a few weeks back so it will be half price for the really nice stuff! Tesco's are having some kind of special promotion between the 24-26 August too so I'm going to pop along there tomorrow and see what the deal is.

    So the list:

    Basics Potatoes 1.49
    Small Chicken - 2.67
    Savoy Cabbage 88p
    Spinach Bag 1.09
    Single Cream 29p
    Onions x 3 loose - 33p approx
    Cauliflower 99p

    Pork Sausages x 8 94p
    Steak Mince 250g 1.10
    Cheddar 250g 1.42
    Feta 1.29
    Mozarella 59p
    Milk 6pint 1.68
    Butter 58p
    Butter Beans Small 27p
    Chopped Toms x 3 = 45p total
    Strong White Bread Flour 49p
1kg granulated sugar (more jam to make) 72p
Hair gel (Mr's fault here!) 99p (although persuading him to go for the 44p version)
Andrex Loo Roll 12 rolls for 9 - £4.18 - should last the whole month
Sainsburys Basic Washing Up Liq 53p
    Whiskas £2.13 (with coupon)
    Cat Litter £1.19
    Frozen Mushrooms 85p
    Tuna £1.97
    Mayo 64p
    Stock Cubes 70p

    = £31.46

    dbelle good luck with this!

Have you thought of turning a negative into a positive by eating the cat?

    Interesting thought!

    Well done to you Mrsmcawber!
Glad I made it in to your sig too! ;)
  • I didnt know they did frozen mushrooms - are they whole or sliced? what a great idea, the tinned ones are nice but v expensive and fresh ones go slimy so quickly:p

They are sliced. They aren't as good as fresh mushrooms obviously but for 85p for a largeish bag its not bad really! They are really good to use in things like pasta dishes, stews, shepherds pie, spag bol because you can just throw some in frozen to bulk it up.

I also like frozen peppers for that too, we have some of those in the freezer so I am using them up.

The mushrooms also make lovely risotto but the OH hates that so its not on the menu! :p
  • Finding this thread fascinated. dbelle, is that shopping list just for your meals this week or will you have something for the next 3 left out of it?

Oops, just read that your meal plan was for 2 weeks. Really loved the meal ideas, too. Shall try some on mine. :D

Mr is doing the shopping now as he is off work today, I changed the list a bit last night to accomodate some cheaper products in Tesco's, so I hope we save some money!

I think the difference we save will probably go into Pin Money Saving as I liked that idea.

Am going to try them and the peppers too, I LOVE risotto :p
  • yes I can second the frozen mushroom and pepper. We use them a lot to pep up pizzas, omelettes, pasta dishes. Works out cheaper for us as we never waste anything.
