Hiya,
I just thought I'd post something that might help. I know you all know how to make soup, but it is delish and, most importantly, cheap! I know that I havent given exact quantities, but you don't need to be exact. Just freeze the excess and defrost when needed.
Chicken(less) Noodle Soup - Makes up to 15 portions, so you will need a huge pot, or you could scale it down a bit
500g carrots, I grated mine 30p
3 large onions (you know the size you get in the supermarket that are packed in threes? You don't have to use these ones, but that's the size you need) chopped 80p
Packet chicken stock cubes (Or I use bouillion, which is a bit dearer, but it saves on opening al those packets) 92p
4 packets cheap value noodles -crushed - you won't need the seasoning packets. 32p
1 tin sweetcorn 22p
Seasoning
Total £2.56 (15p per portion)
Put half of the stock cubes and the rest of the ingredients in a huge pot and fill to just over two thirds with water. Taste often and add more stock cubes if necessary. Cook until lovely and soft. Season to taste.

HI i'm new to all this but a few more things ive picked up on the way are
maximise discounts i.e
look at the price per kg (NOT the bog off price)
make sure that the yellow sticker is a bargain!!
buy the bargain and then use coupons with the purchase making it even more of a bargain
Get that credit card if NO debts of course and do the free cash game
Get the points/saving stamps too
Check on these boards for extra freebies with the purchase if your budget permits such as a £5 free gift voucher with 3xflora or free haircut saving you £30 a throw (then spend the money as above on shopping)
check out prices in store - on the web compare everything make a mental note to only buy the item where it's cheapest if possible
do a SHOPPING RUN rather than shopping in one place mine is usually a circuit run lidl-Netto-Morrisons-Tesco buy only the items that are the cheapest in those places it makes a BIG difference for instance ham at netto £1.35 for 350g ham in tesco £1 for 120g
Blanch and freeze veg when on offer
My shopping this month £69.00 for 2 adults 2 children 1 aged 3 other 9 months and I have loads in the freezer left too I don't really do the meal planner thing just buy cheap and then base the meals around that really.
If anyone can add to this list the more the merrier£2400 mb profit so far since 01/11/08
!!!!!!!!!I am a scrooge and proud of it!!!!!!!!!!!!0
