Hi peeps, have a big bag of popping corn and unsure how to make it, before I have cooked it in a pan with oil and then added sugar at the end to make it sweet but all the sugar fell to the bottom, so whats the best way to make it, and is there anything else I can add to it ?
thanks!

If you use caster suger, the finer grains will stick to the popcorn better. Just sprinkle over the popped corn afer tipping it into the bowl. (Icing sugar will actually melt a little bit in the residual steam coming from the popped corn, and will glaze the popcorn, giving it a slightly crunchy coating.)0 -

then melt some sugar slowly in a pan until it goes golden and pour over the popcorn.
Hummm! Thats probably where I went wrong then. I had the gas on full flame and the toffee it made tasted awful. Very bitter and burnt!SIMPLE SIMON - Met a pie man going to the fair. Said Simple Simon to the pie man, "What have you got there?" Said the pie man unto Simon, "Pies, you simpleton!"0 -
Hi all
I absolutely LOVE popcorn, but I'm trying to save money and lose some weight so I'm looking into alternatives to the shop-bought stuff.
I figured you guys would know the whys and wherefores, what's hot and what's not in the world of DIY popcorn... I'd be happy to shell out for a popcorn maker if it's healthier than making it in a pan as it would get lots of use.
All suggestions, information, recipes and advice welcome.
TIA

Last time I made popcorn it was surprisingly simple. Put some popping corn in a container with a lid and whacked it in the microwave. I set the microwave for 10 minutes, then when the corn slowed in popping I just stopped it. Seem to recall it was about 6 minutes. Added a little salt, it was great.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070

Buy an air popper - its the healthiest - it uses hot air to pop the kernals; no fat at all. Easier than in a microwave.0

I have an air popper (shaped like a duck!).
Must admit, I got it out this week for the first time in about two years. It does make healthy popcorn - my current tip is to spray the fresh popped corn with a bit of Frylight before sprinkling salt/cayenne pepper/cinnamon or whatever, to help it stick a bit. Otherwise, you just end up with a load of seasoning at the bottom of the bowl.
I read something on the internet that said you could pop kernels in a paper bag in the microwave without oil...0
